There’s the old joke about why the chicken crossed the road.
In the case of an incident Monday in Norwalk, the animal was a goose — and it didn’t make its destination. Police said a Norwalk driver admitted to intentionally hitting a goose “that was crossing the roadway” in the parking lot of Norwalk Furniture.
At 6:07 p.m., a Monroeville resident reported seeing a red Ford Escort speeding through the rear parking lot of Norwalk Furniture and “purposely striking a goose that was crossing the roadway,” according to Norwalk Police Officer Kenneth Stiert’s report.
Police located the driver and identified him as Brandon M. Leslie, 24.
“Mr. Leslie readily admitted to running over the goose because it was in his way. While speaking with Mr. Leslie about the complaint, he became agitated and began verbally abusing me,” Stiert said.
Leslie was issued summonses on cruelty to animals and verbal abuse of a police officer.
