SHELBY - Twenty members of the community recently took advantage of the Free Night of Welding Program offered in Bob Howard's welding class at Pioneer Career and Technology Center in Shelby.
Yolanda Santana of Willard was congratulated for her hard work and for being selected adult education student of the month for October. She was nominated by instructors Sherry Ross and Pat Moore.
All of the students enrolled are currently working for structural certification. Students who started class in September will be ready for certification testing in mid November. Students in administrative/legal office technology and medical office technology have finished their first quarter of classes. Students in the Administrative Office will use their skills from business math and English classes to move on to computer classes and accounting. Students in the medical program will use their skills in medical terminology to move on to advance terminology and also anatomy and physiology.
The October nurse aide program is finished. The curriculum prepared students to provide nursing related services to patients or residents in a long-term facility. The 80-hour course prepared the students for the STNA, nurse aide state test. The next class will be offered in April 2008.
