A prosecutor said there haven't been any plea negotiations over a felonious assault case that hospitalized a 57-year-old local man.

Ronald D. Ohm, 37, of 160A Williams St., New London, goes to trial Aug. 27 in Huron County Common Pleas Court. If convicted of felonious assault, he faces two to eight years in prison.

"I think this will be done in two days, your honor," said Huron County Assistant Prosecutor Daivia Kasper, who was in court Monday on behalf of assistant Prosecutor Richard Woodruff.

Kasper told Judge Jim Conway there haven't been any discussions about plea negotiations with defense attorney Jeremy Samuels, but she said the state is open to a plea.

The New London Police Department investigated a March 29 assault at the American Legion Club in which there were two suspected victims. The younger man declined to pursue prosecution.

The two man were arguing when Ohm "intervened for some reason" and reportedly pushed the older man, Sgt. Joe Hicks said earlier.

The older man, a New London Township resident, went to Fisher-Titus Medical Center with a broken right collarbone, right shoulder and left lower leg.

Ohm, who earlier posted a $20,000 bond, is prohibited from having any contact or association with the victim.

my heart goes out to you when ever I see a update on this.. you are a good man..

Bubba's Buddy

A "good man" would not break an older man's right collarbone, right shoulder and left lower leg. Geeze!

Dusty

Sounds like it was a fight between a father and son that he tried to break up. Who to say the "older guy's son didnt break the bones before this guy got there. Good luck with the jury on this one.

FunnyButInformed

If a fight is going to happen and somebody tries to stop it, one of the instigators is still going to jaw with the other, i'm assuming that he tried to stop the fight by stepping in the middle of it, when the older gentleman continued to try and fight the other guy he pushed him and told him to calm down. I wasn't there so I don't know what really happened, but this is what i'm assuming.

Something is not adding up here........The two man were arguing when Ohm "intervened for some reason" and reportedly pushed the older man, Sgt. Joe Hicks said earlier.........The older man, a New London Township resident, went to Fisher-Titus Medical Center with a broken right collarbone, right shoulder and left lower leg.......all of that because he was pushed?

truckin

my guess.. older man drunk and when fight was broken up he stumbled and tripped caused his leg to twist and fell on shoulder.. Boo Hoo.. poor drunk.

Stand your ground & don't take any of their crappy plea deals. You didn't do anything wrong. Except try & break up up fight. We all got your back!

Sitting In The ...

According to Mr.Ohm friends and family, this man had suffered these injuries and continued fighting when our good samaritan "simply" broke up the fight. Of course at no time did he think to call police. Amazingly none of them mentioned that he was arrested twice in 2012 for disorderly conduct.

ROFLMAO

since the jaw breaker, all fights will now go to jury trial.

if any of you actually knew mr ohm like I do, then you would know that he was always a defender of sorts.. always trying to help a friend out.. perhaps he shouldn't have got in it, but im sure this is a lesson he wont forget, and now if someone is jumped on he will probably keep on walking instead of trying to help the person that is getting beat up..
