WILLARD Voters here retained Larry Jacobs, Solon Kousma and Diana Olson as city council members.

Jacobs received roughly 25 percent of the vote, Kousma 29 percent and Olson 26 percent. Challenger JoAnn Jones, who just retired as city clerk, was not elected, receiving just 20 percent of the vote.

"I'm glad they put me back in," said Jacobs, who was first elected in the 80s. "Now we've go to get this crime under control."

Kousma agreed, saying he wants to make Willard a better place to live.

"One way to do that is to drive drugs out of town," he said.

The second-term councilman attributed his victory to his willingness to answer residents' questions.

"I said 'It may not be the answer you want, but you're going to get an answer back,'" said Kousma, himself a Willard resident for 65 years.

He said he plans to continue representing the entire city, as he did before.

Olson said she will do likewise.

"I'm glad to continue serving our citizens and I look forward to the next four years," the second-term council member said.
