Melodie Adelman and Robin Reed were re-elected to the Monroeville board of education in Tuesday’s general election.

Adelman garnered 541 voted in Huron County, while Reed had 482 and Valerie Ball collected 381.

Adelman (40 percent) received the most votes in Erie County as a small portion of the Monroeville school district is in Erie County. Ball actually edged Reed (32 to 27 percent) in Erie County votes, but that number was not enough to win the overall election.

“I’m really excited about it,” Reed said, adding this new term will be another opportunity to accomplish more things at the school.

“It’s important to improve the communication between the school and community,” Reed said.

Reed also said the school’s financial situation and academic opportunities for the students will continue to be a priority.

“Wonderful — it’s a good feeling,” Adelman said. “I want to thank everyone who voted for me and I will continue to do what is best for the kids — that’s why I’m there.”

Adelman said school finances are the top priority and added the space situation at the school is important to solve.

She said she’s proud of the district’s safety stance. “It’s one of the few schools where you have to be buzzed in. Even I have to be buzzed in and I think that’s great.”

Obviously, Ball hoped the election would have turned out differently.

“The voters spoke,” Ball said. “I’m a little disappointed, but I think I put out the facts.”

Ball said she would not run for school board again.

Monroeville Superintendent Carol Girton is ready to get back to work.

“Melodie and Robin are dedicated board members,” Girton said. “They ask questions and are very knowledgeable. They are assets to the board. The superintendent likes it when board members ask questions and these two ladies do that.”

Adelman and Reed join Mike Helmstetter, Steve Reer and Sandy Lonz on the board that meets at 7:30 p.m. the fourth Monday of each month in the board office. The other three were not up for re-election.

We need to get Girton out of there she is horrible, and the school board his horrible Val ball should have been voted in. I dont see this school going anywhere but the toilet. I mean come on they wont even help the students out, theres no skate park in Monroeville, and they are very prejudice against homosexuals. Thank god i am a senior this year or i would be transferring schools next year, the voters apparently don't know what is best for them it is ridiculous that they voted Adelman and Reed back in. Val Ball has the most credentials to dot he job but apparently someone on the school board was sucking someone off.

Brett you schmu...

What a knucklehead... Is it Mrs. Girton's responsibility to get a skate park in town?????
