17 years is too long in the job. Term limits should apply here. After awhile, you start feeling like you own the Village. This Clerk/Treasurer has way too much power. Why does she have to work 60+ hours per week when Milan hires a part timer who only works a few day a week and gets the job done? Is it because she can't get the work done or because she has her nose in every little detail of Village operations that really shouldn't concern her? We need a fresh outlook and an unbiased voice in the front office. Karen Reer is smart, professional, and experienced with budgets. A vote for her is a vote for the whole Village, not just for the ones who agree with the current administration.

Monroeville claims they need money yet they gave the Clerk/Treasurer a significant raise just two years ago and are putting money away monthly for a new office for the Clerk/Treasurer to be built in the existing Croghan Colonial Bank parking lot. What's that all about? We need upgrades to the sanitary sewer sytem and the sewer plant and Council want's to build a new Village Hall? We could develop the Industrial Park and bring new jobs into Monroeville if we upgraded the sewer plant but I guess it's more important that the Clerk-Treasurer have a nice new office. Vote for Karen Reer. She's the common sense choice.

It's always disturbing to read comments from people who talk like they know the facts, but don't. The Clerk-Treasurer's "significant" pay increase two years ago was minimal compared to other employees' pay. The proposed new MUNICIPAL building is to house the police department and ALL administrative offices and Council chambers, not just the Clerk-Treasurer's office. The Clerk-Treasurer does not get paid strictly from the general fund. The Industrial Park is not owned by the village, and they have no control over how that property is sold. Hopefully, citizens who want to be informed of truth and the real facts will seek the proper source to be informed.

Well "citizen" the so called "power" lies with the Village Council. They make the rules. Rules that are made into Ordinances. Ordinances that have to be followed! As for the hours she puts in, you're comparing "apples to oranges" with Milan's Clerk. Get your facts before you post!
