Area road closings, delays announced

Huron County projects affecting local motorists.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has released its weekly construction report for District 3, which includes Huron County.

Here is the report for the week of July 8:

ASHLAND COUNTY
State Route 60 - ***UPDATE***
SR 60, between Township Road 585 and County Road 2404, is closed for an embankment repair and culvert replacement project. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 60 to State Route 179, south on SR 179 to State Route 95, west on SR 95 to SR 60, and reverse. The road is expected to reopen in late July, 2013.

State Route 95 - ***NEW***
SR 95, 0.4 mile west of the Wayne County line in Mohican Township, will close Monday, July 8 for a bridge deck overlay.The detour route for eastbound motorists is SR 95 to State Route 89, north on SR 89 to US Route 30, east on US 30 to State Route 3, south on SR 3 to SR 95, and reverse for westbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on July 22, 2013.

State Route 603 - ***UPDATE***
SR 603, between Township Road 1875 and Township Road 1706, is closed for the replacement of three culverts. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 603 to US Route 30, east on US 30 to State Route 511, north on SR 511 to US Route 42, south on US 42 to SR 603. The road is expected to reopen by July 12, 2013.

State Route 604 - ***UPDATE***

SR 604, between US Route 42 and Camp Road in Wayne County, is closed for the replacement of seven culverts. The detour route for eastbound motorists is SR 604 to US 42, north on US 42 to State Route 301, south on SR 301 to SR 604, and reverse for westbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen by July 19, 2013.

ERIE COUNTY
State Route 101
SR 101 (Tiffin Avenue), from Harbor Boulevard to just south of Superior Street in the City of Sandusky, is closed for tie-in work as part of an $8.1 million railroad grade separation project. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 101 to US 6, west on US 6 to State Route 2, east on SR 2 to SR 101, and reverse for northbound motorists. Access to homes and businesses in the area will be maintained at all times by utilizing Ferndale Road and Superior Street. The road is expected to reopen by August 30, 2013.

HURON COUNTY
State Route 13 - ***NEW***
SR 13, 0.6 mile north of US Route 224 in Greenwich Township, will close Monday, July 8 for repairs at the CSX railroad tracks. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 13 to US 224, east on US 224 to US Route 250, west on US 250 to SR 13, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on July 18, 2013.

State Route 61
SR 61, between South Pleasant Street and Old State Road in the City of Norwalk, has intermittent single closures for bridge repair work as part of a resurfacing project. SR 61 is also reduced to one lane of traffic between Marshall Street and the eastern corporation limits of Norwalk. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in August 2014.

State Route 61
SR 61, at four bridge structures between State Route 103 and South Norwalk Road, is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic for bridge repairs and resurfacing work. All locations are being maintained with a temporary traffic signal for repair work. Snyder Road and South Norwalk Road at their intersections with SR 61 are also closed. Detours are posted. The work is expected to be complete in late-July 2013.

LORAIN COUNTY
State Route 58          
SR 58, between State Route 511 and Morgan Street is closed in the City of Oberlin for a sanitary sewer replacement project. Local traffic can follow posted detour; however, the detour route for trucks is SR 58 to US Route 20, west on US 20 to Baumhart Road, north on Baumhart Road to State Route 113, east on SR 113 to SR 58, and reverse for southbound trucks. The work is expected to be complete in late July 2013.

State Route 82 - ***NEW***
SR 82, just west of Plum Creek Drive, will close Wednesday, July 10 for a culvert replacement in Columbia Township. The detour route for eastbound motorists is SR 82 to State Route 83, south on SR 83 to State Route 57, south on SR 57 to State Route 303, east on SR 303 to State Route 252, north on SR 252 to SR 82, and reverse for westbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on July 31, 2013.

 

Interstate 90
I-90, over the Black River and Ford Road, is reduced to two narrowed 11’ lane widths of traffic in each direction for bridge deck replacements. The restrictions will remain in place through November 2013.

 

State Route 254
SR 254, from just west of West River Road to the City of Avon, is reduced to one lane of traffic as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times in each direction. The project is expected to be completed in August 2013.

State Route 301
SR 301 (Abbe Road), at its bridge over Interstate 90 in the village of Sheffield, is closed as part of a replacement project.  The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 301 to State Route 254, southwest on SR 254 to I-90, east on I-90 to State Route 611, west on SR 611 to SR 301, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen in early September, 2013.

Boston Road
Boston Road, between Marks Road and Boone Road, is closed as part of a safety project at the CSX railroad crossing. The detour route westbound motorists is Boston Road to Marks Road, north on Marks Road to Emmons Road, west on Emmons Road to Boone Road, south on Boone Road to Boston Road, and reverse for eastbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen in mid-August, 2013.

 

MEDINA COUNTY
State Route 3 - ***NEW***
SR 3, just west of the CSX railroad tracks in the village of Seville, will close Monday, July 8 for a bridge replacement. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 3 to Interstate 76, east on I-76 to State Route 57, south on SR 57 to State Route 604, west on SR 604 to SR 3, and reverse for northbound motorists. The road will reopen in early September, 2013.

 

State Route 3
SR 3, at its intersection with Reagan Parkway, has intermittent single lane closures for work as part of an intersection improvement project in the City of Medina. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in August 2013.

Interstate 71
I-71, at various locations near its interchange with State Route 18, has intermittent single lane closures or shoulder closures as part of a noise wall replacement project. Two to three lanes of traffic will be maintained at all times. The project is expected to be complete in August 2013.

Interstate 76
I-76, between State Route 57 and State Route 21 in Summit County, is reduced to narrowed lanes of traffic for a rehabilitation project. Two lanes of traffic westbound are being maintained using the contraflow traffic configuration. Eastbound traffic is reduced to one lane between SR 57 and SR 94, and two lanes between SR 94 and the Summit County line. The project will be complete in September 2013.

·         The State Route 94 entrance ramp to I-76 westbound is closed for repairs. Motorists should follow SR 94 to I-76, east on I-76, to State Route 261, north on SR 261 to I-76 west. The ramp is expected to reopen in mid-July.

·         The I-76 westbound exit ramp to State Route 57 is closed for repairs. Motorists should continue west on I-76 to State Route 3, south on SR 3 to I-76, east on I-76 to SR 57. The ramp is expected to reopen in mid-July.

RICHLAND COUNTY
Interstate 71 (Morrow County)
I-71, from just south of the Morrow/Richland County line to State Route 95 (between mile markers 158 and 150), is reduced to two narrowed lanes of traffic as part of a reconstruction and widening project. Two 11’foot lanes are being maintained in each direction and I-71 northbound is using a crossover traffic pattern through the remainder of the project. The project is expected to be complete in October 2013.

State Route 314 (Morrow County)
SR 314, at its bridge over Interstate 71, is closed for a bridge replacement as part of the I-71 widening and reconstruction project. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 314 to US Route 42, south on US 42 to State Route 95, southeast on SR 95 to SR 314, and reverse for northbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on August 20, 2013.

State Route 314 - ***NEW***
SR 314, between Beam Road and Snodgrass Road, will close Wednesday, July 10 for the replacement of two culverts. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 314 to West Fourth Street/County Road 330, west on CR 330 to State Route 61, north on SR 61 to SR 314, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on Wednesday, July 31, 2013.

State Route 545
SR 545, between US Route 30 and US Route 250, is reduced to one lane of traffic as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times in each direction with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in December 2013.

·         SR 545, at its bridge over the Black Fork River (between Pavonia Road and Vantilburg Road), is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic maintained with a temporary signal through mid-October.

·         SR 545, at its bridge over Whetstone Creek (just south of State Route 603), is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic maintained with a temporary signal through mid-August.

State Route 598
SR 598, just south of the Wheeling & Lake Erie railroad tracks in Plymouth Township, is closed for a bridge deck overlay. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 598 to State Route 98, northeast on SR 98 to State Route 61, south on SR 61 to SR 598, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on July 5, 2013.

Trimble Road, Mansfield
Trimble Road, near its interchange with US Route 30 in the City of Mansfield, has intermittent daytime single lane closures as part of a traffic signal replacement project from National Parkway to Longview Avenue. The project is expected to be complete in October 2013.

WAYNE COUNTY
State Route 3/Columbus Avenue
Columbus Avenue, at its bridge over US Route 30 in the City of Wooster, is reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction as part of a bridge repair project. One narrowed lane of traffic will be maintained at all times in each direction. The project is expected to be complete in late September 2013.

State Route 83/Dix Expressway
SR 83, between US Route 30 and Friendsville Road, is reduced to one lane of traffic as part of a concrete joint repair project. One lane in each direction will be maintained at all times. The project is expected to be complete in November 2013.

US Route 250
US 250, between Kidron Road and the Stark County line, is reduced to one lane of traffic as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in late August 2013.
