She left a detailed suicide note.

Authorities believe a body found in a van consumed with flames on Lovers Lane early Sunday morning is that of a 33-year-old Norwalk woman, who apparently committed suicide, Erie County Sheriff Paul Sigsworth said.
The owner of the van, Roberta L. Vick, 17 E. Willard Ave., hadn’t been seen in about a day, he added.
Sigsworth said investigators located a license plate in the debris, and learned the vehicle’ owner’s identity.
Sigsworth said while authorities believe the person, who has yet to be identified, committed suicide, Erie County Coroner Dr. Brian Baxter will rule on the official cause of death —  a process Sigsworth said “will take some time.”
Sigsworth said deputies called the Norwalk Police Department, who contacted the suspected victim’s parents. Authorities were granted permission to search the home and found a suicide note on a living room table.
The “very detailed” note  contained “some indication that she intended to kill herself and how she intended to do that,” Sigsworth said.
“It’s consistent with what we found on Lovers Lane,” he added.
When asked about a possible motive, Sigsworth said the note referred to “personal issues.” Sigsworth said NPD records indicate the woman has made prior suicide attempts within the last nine months.
The body will be sent to the Lucas County Coroner’s office in Toledo for an autopsy.
The Huron County Sheriff’s office received a 9-1-1 call at about 6 a.m. Sunday from a passing motorist who reported a vehicle on fire in the Milan state wildlife area. Firefighters from the Huron River Joint Fire District and Milan Township Fire Department responded. It was then determined the incident happened in Erie County.
Erie County Sheriff’s deputies responded. Sigsworth said initial signs pointed to a homicide — the body was in the back of the Ford Windstar minivan, the vehicle was “completely consumed” and the license plates weren’t visible. Sigsworth added that based on the level of heat and comments from the first people on the scene, that an accelerant might have been used.
Sigsworth said officials from the state fire marshall’s office, who responded, will send samples of debris found to the state arson lab. Technicians there will try to determine if traces of an accelerant are present.

so you're telling me that this woman climbed into the back seat of a van, lit it on fire and stayed in it to burn to death? i truly find that hard to believe. sounds like another limberios case of bad detective work if you ask me. i don't care about a note, that just doesn't make sense. i can't imagine any human being taking that kind of pain long enough to die from it. i just can't believe that. don't take the easy road officers, find out what really happened. make me believe that someone could do that to themselves. because i just don't!

ladydye_5

Well it also states accelerants were possibly used. And you never know she might have taken something and might not have been coherent. So it could very well "make sense". Not everything is a conspiracy. Sounds like you need to quit watching CSI and give some respect. This woman had children and they will need some support now.

Someone did the exact same thing at WalMart not too long ago. Not everything is a conspiracy. You probably think the government was behind the Sept. 11th attacks as well. RIP Roberta.

mikeylikesit

if you mean the old man at port Clinton wal mart, he shot himself while in a running car. something happened to cause a fire but he was already dead..

Blaze

I was referring to a young man at Norwalk WalMart.

She left behind children so please, please think about them before posting anything negative. They may not be reading anything at this point in time but you never know if they may want to in the future. RIP Roberta- I hope you found the peace and serenity you were searching for

RE: Just saying-Out of curiosity, why did you copy and paste my comments from the SR over to here? My sentiments were sincere and I'm sure your's are too but I had to stop for a minute thinking I had another screen name and it confused my daughters for a minute also. Just strange.

Thoughts, prayers, & hugs to her children, family, & friends..Please if you don't have anything nice to say, don't comment..The family is going thru enough right now & the negativity will only make matters worse..How would you feel if this were your family this was happening to? Please be considerate to others in their time of need..I truly hope the ECSO can find all the answers they are looking for..If this wasn't a suicide, I pray they catch whoever is behind it..Horrible & tragic..May you R.I.P. now Roberta..

She's not the first and she wont be the last to choose to die this way. Like somebody earlier said, if she took something, she may not have even been coherent if she took something and smoke inhalation would have gotten her quick as well. If you're as determined as she clearly was, then nothing is going to matter.

WOW, this described her to a T. I don't wish this on anyone, especially her kids but that description was exactly how she was.

I am so sorry for the family, I knew Roberta when she was younger. I pray she has found peace. As for the unkind and nasty comments, it speaks more about the person posting them. Shame on any one for posting anything mean and unkind.

Back to the man at walmart a few years ago they were probably referring to the young man at the norwalk walmart who if I'm not mistaken was an employee there at the time. He was a family memeber of a man who works for this news paper and I was good friends with his younger sister as a child. R.I.P. joe and roberta

No need to coat anything, no need to comment. It's just mean, you don't have to like her. You should however have some compassion for her family. We all have done things people could comment unkindly on. For goodness sake keep your venom to yourself.

I agree 100% . It doesn't matter if you liked her or not . Nor does it matter what kind of person she was. What matters is that she left behind children and a family who are faced with a life of pain confusion and grief right now. Have respect for them. They are the innocents left to deal with your poison. Keep it for the water cooler gossip.

I'm not sticking up for her. I do not know what she has done. I am sticking up for her children and her family that are left behind . They know what she has done or hasn't done. Its their business to deal with not yours to spread about the town. They have to listen to the talk and whispers when they walk in a room. So make sure you do your part to spread it around. Its called respect. RESPECT FOR HER CHILDREN. I could care less if u have any for her or not.

Ispeed 2. You have to be the most arrogant person ever! I knew Roberta as an adult, I didn't agree with a lot of things she did or how she lived HER life, but I am absolutely heartbroken for her and those children! She did wrong to me and my family but I would never bash her name especially after something like this! This poor lady was suffering, worse than anyone knew and you sit here and bash her name! Maybe its time to pull up your pants and act like an adult! Its people life you that make this society so bad! Have you ever lost someone close to suicide??? Have you ever had to deal with the pain and hurt and suffering!? I have! And its not something I would wish on my worst enemy! Who cares what your problems where with her! Obviously your the one you stuck around to keep getting "hurt" by her! You are low and as far as I'm consider scum! You are the one that will be answering to god some day! And you will be praying not to end up in that fiery place you say she is!!!! R.I.P Roberta I pray your family can some day find peace!

Ispeed, you should learn what COMPASSION is. You don't have to like someone or the choices people make but it's not you life or decision how others live their lives. This woman was someones daughter/sister/mother and/or friend. Someone is grieving the loss of this woman. Instead of pointing out her flaws have some compassion for the family and friends that are suffering the loss of THEIR loved one.

Norwalk reflector if you can not monitor better than this, take this commit section down. Most are kind, however there are a few jerks out there. Roberta is dead nothing you can say will hurt her. Not the same for her family.
