NEW LONDON - The New London school board of education gave architect Dan Frederick authorization Thursday to prepare contracts with four companies to build the new bus maintenance facility.

In a special meeting the board settled on Dvorak Construction as the construction firm for the project at a cost of $242,197.

Firelands Electric will do the electrical work for $32,252, All Seasons Climate Control will install the plumbing for $24,300 and BC & G Weithman Construction Co. will handle the heating, ventilation and air conditioning for $11,250.

The $309,999 project will consist of a 70-foot by 100-foot, three-bay building located northeast of the school building and it will replace the facility the school now rents from the village on South Main Street.

Board member Chris Pondy described the new structure as, "a very practical building," and Frederick said, "I think you are getting a very good value."

In other business the board accepted the resignation of bus driver Linda Downing, who is retiring at the end of the year.
