Announcements don't come much bigger or better than the one made recently at Pepperidge Farm in Willard, local officials said Monday.

In the next two years, Pepperidge Farm will install a new Goldfish cracker production line and a 227,000 square-foot expansion to the site. The expansion to the existing 355,000 square-foot site will include the new production line, new ingredient processing facilities, additional warehouse space and refurbished employee facilities. The project will also create 50 full-time jobs with benefits and another 500 jobs related to the construction.

Carol Knapp, executive director of the Huron County Development Council, said for those who work in economic development, the Pepperidge Farm expansion was a "dream project."

A story published this week in the Norwalk Reflector revealed what went into landing that project. Don't pat yourself on the back too hard Carol. Can't imagine you did a lot of work riding the coat tails of the Pepperidge expansion, but it will look good on your resume.

Great News for Willard. Jobs are coming......Pepperidge and the new TSC.
