HIGHWAY PATROL

Dennis A. Schaffer, 50, of 1446 Ridge Road, was charged with failure to control Monday after he drove off the right side of Ohio 601 and hit a sign.

No citation was issued Monday after Walter R. Bring, 69, of Elyria, hit debris on U.S. 20 while he was heading east. The debris punctured a hole on the right side of his fuel tank.

Michael A. Mullaney, 28, of 209 Woodland Ave., Willard, was charged with failure to yield the right-of-way Wednesday in the Peru Center Road collision with the vehicle driven by Jennifer L. Sword, no age given, of 3086 Ohio 103, Willard.

Kandice R. McHenry, 19, of 4347 Hartland Center Road, Collins, was charged with failure to control Wednesday after she swerved to miss an animal on U.S. 20 and went off the right side. She overcorrected, re-entered the road, overturned and went off the right side of the road. McHenry hit an embankment, overturned again and the vehicle came to rest on its roof. She was not injured.

Joyce K. Dennis, 47, of 4821 Sherman Norwich Road, Willard, hit a deer Thursday on Washington Road, east of Drake Road.

Heidi R. Burkhalter, 40, of 167 Gallup Ave., was charged with speeding Thursday after she hit the vehicle driven by Kristine D. Purenciu, 36, 4933 Tumney Trail, on N. Ohio 61.

Assisted North Central EMS with a patient at 9:53 p.m. Wednesday at 29 Hawthorne Drive. Returned to station at 10:09.

Assisted North Central EMS with a patient at 7:46 p.m. Wednesday at 39 1/2 S. West St. Returned to station at 8:07.

Assisted North Central EMS with a patient at 7 p.m. Wednesday at 300 E. Ohio 61. Returned to station at 7:42.

Helped North Central EMS with a patient at 5:50 a.m. Thursday at 100 Furniture Parkway. Returned to station at 5:53.

NORWALK POLICE

Joseph C. Gray, 42, 2402 1/2 Ohio 113 E., Milan, was charged with failure to yield half of the roadway Thursday in the North West Street collision with the vehicle driven by David F. Joyce, 50, of 11617 Ohio 113, Milan.

Jesse Reising, of Norwalk, was arrested Thursday on a warrant in connection with a DUI conviction. He is serving a three-day sentence at the Huron County Jail.

A Norwalk resident reported Thursday his foster son was being unruly. The 15-year-old juvenile was taken to the station, where he met with his probation officer and later was released to his foster father.

A Wooster Street resident reported Thursday his bicycle was found abandoned in his yard.

A Hanford Road, Wakeman, resident reported someone stole a clay pigeon launcher from a shelter on his property Wednesday.

An Old State Road resident reported there was a slit in the center container of a package of Molts applesauce he bought at a Westwind Drive business Wednesday. He was referred back to the store.

An Ohio 99, Willard, resident reported suspicious vehicles Wednesday.

An area resident requested Wednesday a deputy check on the well-being of her 5-month-old granddaughter living on Neal Zick Road, Willard. The complainant accused the mother of allowing a registered sex offender to baby-sit the child and reported the allegation to Huron County Children Services.

A Maple Ridge Road, Willard, resident reported tools were stolen from his home Wednesday.

A Townline Road, Willard, resident reported someone vandalized his mailbox Wednesday.

An East U.S. 20, Wakeman, resident reported an electric shaver and toothbrush were found in a vacant mobile home Wednesday.

Responded to a "general duress" alarm activation Wednesday on Hartland Center Road, Collins.

An area resident reported Wednesday loud music was coming from a nearby church.

Responded to a domestic violence complaint Wednesday on Greenwich Milan Townline Road, Norwalk.
