Sandifer promited at Tampa zoo
TAMPA. Fla - Former Norwalk resident Jean Sandifer recently was promoted at Tampa's Lowry Park Zoo named the No. 1 family zoo in the U.S. by Child Magazine.
Sandifer started at the zoo in August 2006 as a park supervisor and she recently was promoted to the park manager. The zoo has more than 200 employees and more than 2,000 animals on 41 acres which also includes a non-profit, manatee hospital.
Hipps attend training institute
Kevin and April Hipp, owners of Franklin Monument, Ltd. recently attended an Elberton Granite Association Training Institute for Memorial Counselors held in Elberton, Ga.
The Institute, now in its 26th consecutive year, has become a popular forum for skill development among the nation's leading memorialists.
The Institute, sponsored by the Elberton Granite Association, Inc., presented instruction in production and interpersonal skills which will assist the Hipps in serving the people of Norwalk and Huron County.
The Elberton Granite Association is a trade association representing granite quarries, monument and mausoleum manufacturers and counter top manufacturers located in Elberton, Ga. Each year more than two million cubic feet of granite are transformed into unique, personalized memorials by the Elberton Granite Manufacturers.
The Institute's area of instruction included monument design, symbolism in memorialization, production techniques, sales and marketing, monument cleaning and installation.
