The Ripley Church

GREENWICH HeartSong will sing at The Ripley Church, 4130 Edwards Road, Greenwich, at 6 p.m. Oct. 14. HeartSong is a group of Cedarville University students who present a fresh expression of their faith through music.

First Presbyterian, Norwalk

This Sunday marks World Communion Sunday. The church will receive the peacemaking offering for Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Special music will be provided by the Westminister Voices. The Rev. Adrian Doll will continue in the fall preaching series, "Rejoice in the Lord."

The adult Sunday school class continues in its fall study "The Treasure Principle" at 9:30 a.m. in the Great Room.

The Presbyterian women's board meets at 1 p.m. Wednesday and the deacons will meet for their monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday.

St. John UCC

MILAN Swiss steak dinner, bake sale and mini-bazaar will be held from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 25 at St. John UCC, corner of Mason and Thomas roads. Cost is a donation of $7.50 for adults. The dinner is sponsored by the adult fellowship of St. John UCC.

St. Joseph/St. Alphonsus

PSR Classes are from 9 to 10:15 a.m. at St. Joseph and from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at St. Alphonsus.

All parishioners are invited to the Tuesday pastoral council meeting. Those attending will break into work groups and plot the plan for making church dreams reality.

Steuben UCC

STEUBEN Sunday is World Communion Sunday. Steuben Church will join with the Church Universal in this celebration. The United Church of Christ practices open communion: all who profess Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior are welcome to gather around the Lord's Table.

Sunday is also the Nineteenth Sunday after Pentecost. The scripture lessons, based on the theme "The Good Treasure," are Lamentations 1:1-6, Psalm 137, 2 Timothy 1;1-14, and Luke 17:5-10. The Rev. Patricia E. Welch, pastor and teacher, will lead worship during the 11 a.m. service.

Wakeman St. Mary

WAKEMAN There will be a "light lunch" after the 10:30 Mass Oct. 14. Warm ham sandwiches, potato salad and a beverage will be offered. Donations will be accepted.

Parents of students preparing for first reconciliation will meet in the meeting room at 9:05 a.m. Oct. 14. Coffee and snack will be furnished.

The church is hosting a "Mary Power" retreat from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 20. Sr. Berneta Schneider, SND will be the presenter. A light lunch (homemade soups, salad and rolls) will be served and the mini-retreat will conclude in time for participants to attend reconciliation and the 4 p.m. Mass. Children's Liturgy of The Word takes place each Sunday during the 10:30 a.m. Mass.

St. Mary/St. Anthony

The blessing of animals in honor of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, will be held Sunday. The blessing will be at noon at St. Mary. Gather in the parking lot. The blessing at St. Anthony will be at 1 p.m. Gather in the grass behind the church.

A first communion parent meeting will be held at St. Anthony from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday.

First United Methodist

The church will celebrate communion on Sunday as part of Worldwide Communion Sunday. The service is at 10:30 a.m. and communion is open to anyone, regardless of age or church affiliation.

October marks the start of a new Bible study taught by Sally King. It is called intercessory prayer and meets at 7 p.m. Thursdays at the church. The second of the seven-week course will be Oct. 11. The course will give participants an opportunity to experience the impact they make on other people's lives through prayer.

Also in October, the church will host its fall rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily Thursday to Oct. 13 at the church.

Wakeman Congregational

WAKEMAN This church, located 14 Abbott St., has confirmation class at 9:10 a.m., adult and youth Sunday School at 9:30 a.m. and worship service at 10:25 a.m.

The sacrament of baptism will be offered and as will the service for new members.

Monday prayer night continues from 6:45 to 8 p.m. The church is open for anyone to come and pray. The Rev. Joe Todd will also pray with all who wish. Choir practice also is held on Monday night and new voices are always welcome.

Leroy Stober and Dr. John Douds are on a week's mission trip to Back Bay Mission in Biloxi, Miss., to continue the reconstruction of areas devastated by Hurricane Katrina over two years ago.

St. Paul Catholic

Children's Liturgy of the Word will be celebrated at the 9 a.m. Mass and Spanish Mass at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Blood pressure checks can be taken after the 7 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Masses Sunday.

The church has a new family resource that will help families think about and act on the word of God in their homes. It's called "The Word To Go." The church would like to invite children of the parish to help distribute these weekly family bulletins at the end of Mass on Sunday. Parents should fill out and return the bottom of the sheet if their children are interested.

Milan Friends Church

MILAN This church, located at 2018 E. Mason Road, will have gospel singers Kathy White, Robert Blankenship and the Living Stones at 6 p.m. today. This is a fundraising event for Abigail Ministries, a Christian crisis pregnancy service for which a free-will offering will be taken. There will also be a canteen with food and drink items for sale. Clarksfield UMC

CLARKSFIELD This church, located at 5151 Zenobia Road, has church services at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The church will have a guest speaker, Betsy Kniffin, for the service. The Logos program will begin from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
