NEW LONDON - Happy 100th birthday to New London's Raymond Noss, who was born Sept. 25, 1907. This Ruggles Township resident worked for the New York Central Railroad for 44 years and after retiring took up farming and woodworking.

He and his wife Donna have four children, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

Rotary visit

NEW LONDON - Ralph Schilbler, governor of Rotary District 6600, visited the New London Rotary Club Sept. 17. He had lunch with club members and discussed this year's Rotary theme of "We Share Rotary."

Fundraising

NEW LONDON - It's that time of year again when the New London Area United Community Fund begins its annual drive.

Each year the New London Rotary Club organizes the campaign and pays all costs associated with it, so all money donated to the effort goes directly to help 14 local and area agencies and organizations.

This year's goal is $15,000 and the recipients will be the NL Golden Agers, Red Cross, Boy and Girl Scouts, Huron County Society for Medically Handicapped Adults and Children, the New London Service Unit of the Salvation Army, Hospice of North Central Ohio, New London Little League, Pony League, New London Community Child Care Center, Huron County Humane Society, Senior Service, girls' softball and God's Little Critters.

Members of the United Community Fund Committee are Rotarians Cathy Carpenter, John Noss and George Eastman and area residents Pamela Puder, Janet Anderson, Pat Cawrse, Pamela Mencl and Carol Pondy.

Contributions can be mailed to the NL United Fund, % NL Rotary, Box 43, New London OH 44851.

N.L. concert

NEW LONDON - The public is invited to an end-of-summer concert by Tommy Hall and the Sunlighters at 7 p.m. Saturday at the New London Reservoir Campground at 2495 Euclid Road.

Admission to the park is $1.50 and information and camping reservations are available at (419) 929-8609.

Pet service

BERLIN HEIGHTS - Morman Funeral Home and Hinman-Tanner Funeral Home are presenting the second annual pet remembrance service Oct. 6 at the Hinman-Tanner Funeral Home, 38 South St., Berlin Heights and will include a speaker, activities for adults and children, information and refreshments. The public is welcome.
