Bon Jovi will help launch the 2013 football season with a special "Fan Kickoff Concert" on Sunday, July 14 at FirstEnergy Stadium, home of the Cleveland Browns.
Cleveland native and Rocky River High School graduate Michael Stanley also will be part of the festivities. Stanley and his band, The Resonators, will take the stage before Bon Jovi.
Stanley's appearance at the upcoming concert will mark the first time he has performed on the grounds of FirstEnergy Stadium (built on the site of the former Cleveland Municipal Stadium). Stanley band played multiple sold-out shows at the old stadiums in the 1980s. He also played in front of 87,000 people outside the stadium in the area which now occupies part of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. In addition, Stanley played at the old stadium during one of the first World Series of Rock events -- when he played in front of a sold-out crowd along with the Eagles, Yes and Ace.
The July 14 show is one of only six U.S. stadium dates on Bon Jovi's current 75-city "Because We Can -- The Tour," and the previously unscheduled tour date will usher in Northeast Ohio's most anticipated time of year. The show will include a massive state-of-the-art stage production emulating a larger-than-life classic Buick cruiser, specially-designed for stadium audiences. The day's festivities will also feature a two-hour Fan Fest and a Browns Pep Rally all beginning at 4 p.m. (a full schedule appears below).
Tickets for the extravaganza are available at all Ticketmaster retail outlets throughout metro Cleveland (including many Giant Eagle locations), as well as the FirstEnergy Stadium ticket office, which is located on the south side of FirstEnergy Stadium, and is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Tickets also are available online at Ticketmaster.com and by phone at (800) 745-3000.
The "Fan Kickoff Concert" with Bon Jovi at FirstEnergy Stadium is scheduled as follows:

6:30 p.m. -- Michael Stanley and The Resonators

"We are elated that Bon Jovi has chosen to make Cleveland a part of this exciting and successful tour," Browns CEO Joe Banner said. "This will be great for the city's visibility and is an indication that it is fast becoming a destination spot for large-scale events such as this one. We believe that FirstEnergy Stadium will be a tremendous host for an event of this magnitude, and we look forward to having more in the future as part of our business model."
"We feel as though this exhibits Bon Jovi's passion for the city and the city's passion for the group," added Browns President Alec Scheiner. "Being able to facilitate an event like this shows the commitment we have made to our fans and all residents of Northeast Ohio. We can't think of any better way to spend a summer night than at FirstEnergy Stadium for an event that is sure to be a thrill for everyone."
This marks the second straight year that a major recording artist has performed at FirstEnergy Stadium.
Last July, Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw entertained the Cleveland crowd as part of "The Brothers of the Sun Tour."
Overall, this will be the seventh concert to have taken place at FirstEnergy Stadium since it opened in 1999.
