Sunflower contest winners named

MILAN The annual sunflower contest sponsored by the Milan Garden Club was recently held at Milan Elementary School. The seeds for the sunflowers were donated by Keefer Lawn and Garden on Ridge Road in Willard, and were distributed to the students last May. Measurement of the longest distance across the sunflower head is how the winners are determined. This year's Grand Champion is third-grader Autumn Rakosky, with a measurement of 21 feet. Other winners were first-graders Caleb Jones (first place) Vernon Kluding (second place); second-graders Olivia Cummings (first place) and Bryce Roberts (second place); third-graders Ian Churchill (first place) and Ming Mesenburg (second place); fourth-graders Justin Sanchez (first place) and Briana Cummings (second place); and fifth-graders Hannah Charville (first place) and Tori Stallkamp (second place).
