FIRELANDS OUTDOOR NOTEBOOK Huron pier a great fishing spot

There's just no question that Lake Erie is Ohio's finest fishing hole with near world class walleye, perch, smallmouth bass, and other species waiting for a hook. And most of us don't mind sharing gas money with a few friends to fish there or paying a larger sum for a headboat, even $300 to $400 for a six pack, though that price can be shared with friends, too. But now and again I like to go up and just go fishing, which means loafing along a bank or pier drowning nightcrawlers or minnows, and catching ordinary species that might range from carp to sheepshead and yellow perch to white perch and channel cats.
