A Huron County grand jury has indicted a local woman accused of having heroin and another drug.

Carla S. Reed, 29, of 4490 Ohio 18, Wakeman, was indicted last week on one count each of possession of heroin and possession of oxycodone, both in connection with a March 9 incident.

Last summer, Reed also was arrested after she and a Norwalk woman returned to Huron County after allegedly buying at least 20 heroin balloons in Columbus -- just hours after the other woman had a bond hearing involving another heroin charge.

Reed was charged with possession of heroin, but only Lykins was indicted in that drug bust.

"Both (suspects) had warrants for their arrests. ... We had been investigating them for quite some time," Huron County Sheriff's Detective Josh Querin said after their arrests.

Querin said authorities located 17 balloons in the vehicle and in Reed's purse, they found numerous syringes, some spoons with suspected heroin residue and loose hydrocodone and Percocet pills. "We found one (pill) inside the vehicle," the detective said.

Querin said he suspects Reed and Lykins bought at least 20 balloons of heroin when they were in Columbus. The 17 recovered balloons have a street value of slightly more than $500.

"They admitted to using some of the balloons in Columbus. ... Amy Lykins attempted to swallow (some), so they were located in her mouth," he said.

It's unknown how long Reed reportedly had been going to Columbus to buy heroin. However, Querin said it's believed she has been supplying the drug to the Norwalk area for quite some time.

"We know she was not going to Columbus all the time. There were other places she was going," he said.

Lykins, 30, was freed from the Huron County Jail last week, having received a "last-chance" opportunity from Judge Jim Conway. To read that story, click HERE.
