Area road closings, delays announced

Huron County projects included in this week's list.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has released its weekly construction report for the District 3 area, which includes Huron County.

Here is the report for the week of June 10:

ASHLAND COUNTY
State Route 60
SR 60, between Township Road 585 and County Road 2404, is closed for an embankment repair and culvert replacement project. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 60 to State Route 179, south on SR 179 to State Route 95, west on SR 95 to SR 60, and reverse. The road is expected to reopen in early July, 2013.

State Route 96
SR 96, between the Richland County line and Cottage Street in the City of Ashland, is reduced to one lane of traffic as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete on August 27, 2013.

US Route 250
US 250, between County Road 1575 and Township Road 653 in Montgomery Township, is reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction. Traffic will be maintained at all times in each direction with narrowed lane widths. The project is expected to be complete in late June 2013.

State Route 603
SR 603 is closed for the replacement of two culverts in Mifflin Township. The first location to close is one-half-mile south of County Road 1217. Upon completion of that work, SR 603 will close at its intersection with Township Road 2116, which will also be closed. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 603 to State Route 430, west on SR 430 to State Route 39, southeast on SR 39 to SR 603, and reverse for northbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on June 12, 2013.

 

State Route 603 - ***NEW***
SR 603, between Township Road 1875 and Township Road 1706, will close Thursday, June 13 for the replacement of three culverts. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 603 to US Route 30, east on US 30 to State Route 511, north on SR 511 to US Route 42, south on US 42 to SR 603. The road is expected to reopen by July 3, 2013.

 

State Route 604 - ***NEW***
SR 604, between US Route 42 and Camp Road in Wayne County, will close Monday, June 10 for the replacement of seven culverts. The detour route for eastbound motorists is SR 604 to US 42, north on US 42 to State Route 301, south on SR 301 to SR 604, and reverse for westbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen by July 3, 2013.
 

CRAWFORD COUNTY
State Route 96 - ***NEW***
SR 96, between State Route 98 and State Route 602, will be reduced to one lane of traffic as part of a chip seal maintenance project beginning Monday, June 10. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers at all times. The work is expected to be complete by July 2013.

State Route 103
SR 103, 0.4 mile west of the Huron County line, is being maintained with a temporary traffic signal for two-way traffic as part of a bridge replacement project. The project is expected to be complete at the end of September 2013.

State Route 598
SR 598, between Brandt Road and County Road 330, has intermittent single lane closures for finalization work as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete by the end of July 2013.

State Route 598 - ***NEW***
SR 598, just south of the Wheeling & Lake Erie railroad tracks in Plymouth Township, will close Thursday, June 13 for a bridge deck overlay. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 598 to State Route 98, northeast on SR 98 to State Route 61, south on SR 61 to SR 598, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on July 5, 2013.

State Route 602 - ***NEW***
SR 602, between State Route 19 and Guiss Road, will be reduced to one lane of traffic as part of a chip seal maintenance project beginning Monday, June 10. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers at all times. The work is expected to be complete by July 2013.

Stetzer Road & Beechgrove Road
Stetzer Road, at its bridge over US Route 30, is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic for bridge deck repairs. Traffic will be maintained with a temporary traffic signal. Beechgrove Road, near Stetzer Road, is closed to thru traffic as part of this work. The work is expected to be complete in late June 2013.

HURON COUNTY
US Route 20
US 20, within the village of Monroeville, is reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction as part of a resurfacing project. The project is expected to be complete in October 2013.

US Route 20 - ***NEW***
US 20, between Hanford Road and Butler Road in Wakeman Township, will close for the replacement of a culvert on Monday, June 10.  The detour route for eastbound motorists is US 20 to State Route 60, south on SR 60 to State Route 18, east on SR 18 to State Route 511, north on SR 511 to US 20, and reverse for westbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on June 19, 2013.

State Route 61
SR 61, between South Pleasant Street and Old State Road in the City of Norwalk, has intermittent single closures for bridge repair work prior to an upcoming resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in August 2014.

State Route 61 - ***UPDATE***
SR 61, at four bridge structures between State Route 103 and South Norwalk Road, is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic for bridge repairs. All locations are being maintained with a temporary traffic signal for repair work. Snyder Road is also closed at its intersection with SR 61. Detour is posted.  Beginning Monday, June 10, South Norwalk Road, at its intersection with SR 61, will also close as the project moves in to its next phase of construction. The work is expected to be complete in late-July 2013.

LORAIN COUNTY
State Route 57
SR 57, just north of Railroad Street, is closed for repairs at the CSX tracks in the village of Grafton. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 57 to State Route 82, east on SR 82 to State Route 83, south on SR 83 to SR 57, and reverse for northbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on June 21, 2013.

 

State Route 58          
SR 58, between West Lorain Street (State Route 511) and Walnut Street in the City of Oberlin, is closed for a sanitary sewer replacement project. Local traffic can follow posted detour; however, the detour route for trucks is SR 58 to US Route 20, west on US 20 to Baumhart Road, north on Baumhart Road to State Route 113, east on SR 113 to SR 58, and reverse for southbound trucks. A local detour route for cars has also been set up by the City of Oberlin. The work is expected to be complete in July 2013.

Interstate 90
I-90, over the Black River and Ford Road, is reduced to two narrowed 11’ lane widths of traffic in each direction for bridge deck replacements. The restrictions will remain in place through November 2013. 

State Route 254
SR 254, from just west of West River Road to the City of Avon, is reduced to one lane of traffic as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times in each direction. The project is expected to be completed in August 2013.

State Route 301
SR 301 (Abbe Road), at its bridge over Interstate 90 in the village of Sheffield, is closed as part of a replacement project.  The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 301 to State Route 254, southwest on SR 254 to I-90, east on I-90 to State Route 611, west on SR 611 to SR 301, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen in early September, 2013. 

Boston Road
Boston Road, between Marks Road and Boone Road, is closed as part of a safety project at the CSX railroad crossing. The detour route westbound motorists is Boston Road to Marks Road, north on Marks Road to Emmons Road, west on Emmons Road to Boone Road, south on Boone Road to Boston Road, and reverse for eastbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen in mid-August, 2013.

 

MEDINA COUNTY
State Route 3
SR 3, at its intersection with Reagan Parkway, has intermittent single lane closures for work as part of an intersection improvement project in the City of Medina. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in August 2013.

Interstate 71
I-71, at various locations near its interchange with State Route 18, has intermittent single lane closures or shoulder closures as part of a noise wall replacement project. Two to three lanes of traffic will be maintained at all times. The project is expected to be complete in August 2013.

Interstate 71
I-71, one mile south of State Route 18 near mile marker 216, has intermittent single lane and shoulder closures as part of a slide repair project. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained at all times in each direction; however, motorists are encouraged to watch for trucks entering and exiting this work zone. The project is expected to be complete in July 2013.

Interstate 76
I-76, between State Route 57 and State Route 21 in Summit County, is reduced to narrowed lanes of traffic for a rehabilitation project. Two lanes of traffic westbound are being maintained using the contraflow traffic configuration. Eastbound traffic is reduced to one lane between SR 57 and SR 94, and two lanes between SR 94 and the Summit County line. The project will be complete in September 2013.

Leatherman Road, at its bridge over Interstate 76, will close Monday, June 10 for structure repairs as part of the I-76 rehabilitation project. Detour is posted. The road is expected to reopen by June 30, 2013.

RICHLAND COUNTY
US Route 30 - ***NEW***
US 30 eastbound, near its interchange with Interstate 71, will be reduced to one lane of traffic on Monday, June 10 from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for sign installation. One lane of eastbound traffic will be maintained at all times.

Interstate 71 (Morrow County)
I-71, from just south of the Morrow/Richland County line to State Route 95 (between mile markers 158 and 150), is reduced to two narrowed lanes of traffic as part of a reconstruction and widening project. Two 11’foot lanes are being maintained in each direction and I-71 northbound is using a crossover traffic pattern through the remainder of the project. The project is expected to be complete in October 2013. 

State Route 96
SR 96, between State Route 13 and the City of Shelby, will have intermittent single lane closures for finalization work as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete by August 2013.

State Route 314 (Morrow County)
SR 314, at its bridge over Interstate 71, is closed for a bridge replacement as part of the I-71 widening and reconstruction project. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 314 to US Route 42, south on US 42 to State Route 95, southeast on SR 95 to SR 314, and reverse for northbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on August 19, 2013. 

State Route 545
SR 545, between US Route 30 and US Route 250, is reduced to one lane of traffic as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times in each direction with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in December 2013.

Trimble Road, Mansfield
Trimble Road, near its interchange with US Route 30 in the City of Mansfield, has intermittent daytime single lane closures as part of a traffic signal replacement project from National Parkway to Longview Avenue. The project is expected to be complete in October 2013.

WAYNE COUNTY
State Route 3/Columbus Avenue - ***UPDATE***
Columbus Avenue northbound, at its bridge over US Route 30 in the City of Wooster, is closed. Both northbound lanes are closed over the bridge as part of a repair project; however, the southbound lanes will remain open. The lanes are expected to reopen by June 14, 2013.

US Route 30
US 30, between State Route 3/Columbus Avenue and Jefferson Road, is restricted to one lane of traffic as part of a smooth seal project. One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times in each direction. The project is expected to be complete in late June 2013.

US Route 250 - ***NEW***
US 250, between Kidron Road and the Stark County line, will be reduced to one lane of traffic as part of a resurfacing project beginning Monday, June 10. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in late August 2013.

State Route 604 – ***NEW***
SR 604, between US Route 42 in Ashland County and Camp Road, will close Monday, June 10 for the replacement of seven culverts. The detour route for westbound motorists is SR 604 to State Route 301, north on SR 301 to US Route 42, south on US 42 to SR 604, and reverse for eastbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen by July 3, 2013.
