Two Willard women were charged with theft and a parked vehicle was damaged in connection with a Walmart shoplifting incident Wednesday.

Jessica T. Risner, 33, was charged with theft while Maria M. Ramos, 37, was charged with complicity to theft. Both women were issued summonses.

The Norwalk Police Department responded to a shoplifting incident in progress at 6:39 p.m.

"The suspect fled the scene on foot and entered a parked motor vehicle that appeared to be waiting for her in the (parking) lot. The driver of the vehicle ... damaged another parked motor vehicle before fleeing the scene," Capt. Dave Smith said in his report.

"The parked vehicle, damaged in the incident, was driven away immediately after the incident. As of reporting time, the owner has not been identified," he said.

The Willard Police Department assisted Norwalk officers in their brief investigation and with arresting Risner and Ramos.
