READERS FORUM - Protester praised for intelligence and courage

I applaud young Natalie Thurston for both her intelligence and courage. She is a very wise young lady for knowing that it is necessary to have a healthy distrust of government and to always question authority. It is, in fact, what has helped to keep us free. There is no disrespect in not supporting an illegal and immoral war and lack of support for a war in no way suggests lack of respect for those ordered to fight it. And she is very courageous to be willing to stand alone in protest. I do not know her, but I do know that she is far more a patriot than those who blindly swallow the rhetoric spewed by the war mongers running this country.

Yes, Natalie, you are right. Freedom, liberty and justice for all should not belong only to this nation; what we have may be great, but it does not give us the right to shove it down anyone else's throats.

Please continue to follow your heart. It is certainly in the right place.

Mathhew, how can you say others "blindly following the rhetoric spewed by the war mongers" I can guarantee if you are calling this an immoral and illegal war that you too are are guilty of "blindly following" Just from the few short paragraphs you wrote I can tell you will sit and watch someone like Keith Oberman and agree 100% with and the turn on Bill O'Reily and accept eveything he says as lies. Here is the truth buddy, none of these people are unbiased and they all are telling you something for their own benefit. There are no unbiased sources of information including what you read in the blogosphere. Everyone has a motive, even the liberals. You can be assured the next President will most certainly be a democrat and we will surely have troops in Iraq for their entire term. And I will tell you that I am a democrat, while I do not agree with the specific justification for going to war in Iraq, I do feel it was necessary for a multitude of reasons. And now that we are there, we need to get the job completed. We need to get the country under control and eventually Iraq will be another Germany or Japan in the world market.
