"Cruising down the river on a sunday afternoon" could have been the theme recently as residents traveled to Vermilion. The Mystic Belle River Cruise was truly a fantastic experience as the Captain provided a narrative of life along the river. The evening meal was provided by Ponderosa Steak House. Residents were also treated to a lunch out to the new Casa Fiesta. One of the residents' was born in Mexico and it was great to watch her face light up to see the dcor' as she entered the establishment. And, of course, some enjoyed a Margarita but all agreed the food was fantastic.
Entertainers abounded recently. Joe and Nancy Young sang love songs and even had a sing-a-long. The Calvary Baptist youth choir entertained in the evening and Iverna Falecker provided an organ and piano recital.
Residents council meeting was held with the election of new officers. Sandy Long has assumed the duties of president, Marge Baker is the new vice president, and Helen Wilhelm is the new secretary.
Many church services were conducted. The Rev. Roger George and Rob Duncan provided protestant services. Holy rosary and Catholic communion were conducted by dedicated volunteers.
Numerous activities have been held this past week including crafts with Vera, balloon volleyball with with volunteer Courtney, Walking Club, bingo, manicures, Wheel of Fortune, and making table decorations for the upcoming family picnic. Celebrations were held on National Corn Dog Day and National Filled Doughnut Day with these delicious snacks.
