An assault suspect accused of punching a teenage boy over what the victim called "a misunderstanding" is out on bond.
The Wakeman Police Department arrested Calvin J. Ready, 38, of 401 Hyde St., Wakeman, at his home without incident Monday. He was charged with misdemeanor assault and transported to the Huron County Jail.
"Wakeman police met with the alleged victim at the police department around 9:30 p.m. The victim, a local 18-year-old, told police that he had met with Ready at the Mickey Mart on West Main (Street) over a misunderstanding when Ready punched him in the face and took him to the ground," Chief Tim Hunker said.
"The victim was able to get away. The victim had marks consistent with an assault of this nature," he said.
Ready was released early Tuesday after posting 10 percent of a $5,000 bond.
