A 47-year-old Hocking County man killed his wife and himself during a standoff with authorities Saturday night, according to the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to 9927 State Route 93 around 9 p.m. to help the Perry County Sheriff’s Office on a possible homicide and barricade situation.
The man living at the residence had called a friend saying that he killed his 49-year-old wife and was going to do the same to himself. The sheriff’s office has not released the names of the couple.
The friend called Lancaster Police, who transferred the call to the Perry County Sheriff’s Office. The residence was originally thought to be in Perry County, but when deputies from both agencies arrived, they determined it was in Hocking County.
The sheriff’s office rerouted traffic on State Route 93 until the situation was contained. The Logan-Hocking special-response team entered the house and found the couple dead.
