HIGHWAY PATROL

No citation was issued Aug. 28 after the driver of a red truck came into the lane of Heather N. Puckett, 16, of 5905 Townline Road 12, Willard, forcing her to swerve into a guardrail on the east side of Section Line Road 30.

Marie A. Hall, 59, of 28220 Gore Orphanage Road, New London, was charged with failure to maintain assured clear distance Thursday after she hit the rear of the stopped vehicle driven by Laverne Hargis, 69, of 96 Clifton St., No. 18, New London, at the intersection of U.S. 250 and Old State Road near Townline Road 151. North Central EMS transported Hargis, Hall and her two passengers, Lee Jones, 3, and Calisse Jones, 4, both of Potstown, Pa., to Fisher-Titus Medical Center with minor injuries. Hargis and Hall were treated and released, but there was no information on the children because of their ages.

Zackary N. Holtz, 19, of 4641 Plank Road, was charged with failure to control Sunday after he swerved to miss a deer on Hartland Center Road, went off the right side and hit a ditch.

Ashley N. Moffit, 20, of 246 E. Main St., was charged with failure to control Sunday after she "got a bug in her eye," went off the right side of Ohio 18 and overcorrected. She went off the opposite side and hit a ditch.

Brandon J. Puder, 20, of 73 Townsend Ave., No. 3, was charged with failure to control Monday after he went off the left side of Jarvis Road, where his pickup truck overturned in a field.

Betty J. Griffith, 79, of 19 Grand Ave., No. 13, was charged with failure to control Tuesday after she went off the right side of Whittlesey Avenue and hit a ditch as another vehicle was passing hers.

NORWALK FIRE

Assisted North Central EMS with a patient at 11:39 a.m. Tuesday at 16 Whittlesey Ave. Returned to station at 11:55.

Investigated a report of a green chemical in the water at 1:10 p.m. Tuesday at 133 N. West St. Firefighters determined the coloration was from a biodegradable dye the city was using in the storm sewer to trace water flow. Returned to station at 1:45.

NORWALK POLICE

An area resident reported the theft of $40 while she was shopping at a Westwind Drive business Monday.

A Grove Avenue resident reported a man in a 1996 Plymouth Voyager damaged the siding and interior drywall of her apartment when he hit the building while parking Tuesday.

A Bouscay Avenue resident reported the theft of four compact discs, a large bottle of Vicodin with four pills and a bottle of Xanex during a burglary Tuesday.

A Franklin Street resident accused a male suspect of telephone harassment, violating a civil protection order issued March 11, 2006, insulting her, stealing about $45 in cash, some cigarettes and a digital camera and breaking her cell phone Tuesday. Officers searched for the man on West League Street, but couldn't find him. Police forwarded a report to the Norwalk Law Director's office for the consideration of charges.

Gregory R. Hoff-Lasch, 18, 80 1/2 N. Foster St., was arrested on a warrant Tuesday and charged with violating a no-association or communication court order. He was released later from the Huron County Jail after posting bond.

An area motorist reported the theft of 60 Vicodin pills from the prescription bottle in the glove compartment of his Pontiac Grand Am on Tuesday. A detective processed the bottle for possible fingerprints.

Arrested two female juveniles, whose ages were unavailable, in connection with a Norwalk High School fight Tuesday and released them to their parents. Police forwarded a report to the Huron County Prosecutor's office and Huron County Juvenile Court.

An Oak Street resident reported a yellow Penske truck brought down a telephone line that ripped off the side of a home, causing minor damage to the vinyl siding Tuesday.

Arrested a male juvenile, whose age was unavailable, on a probation violation warrant Tuesday and turned him over to the Erie County Sheriff's Office. Police originally responded to Baker Street where the boy kicked in an apartment door to retrieve some personal items.

SHERIFF'S OFFICE

Assisted a disabled vehicle Tuesday on U.S. 20, Monroeville.

An area resident reported the theft of a catch basin grate cover Tuesday, which the complainant suspected was stolen to be used for scrap metal.

Advised of a private property accident at a South U.S. 250 church Tuesday.

Dispatched North Central EMS and a deputy to Gibbs Road in response to someone suspected of taking too many pills Tuesday.

A Jackson resident requested a deputy check on his uncle and family who live on Sand Road on Tuesday.

An East U.S. 20, Collins, business employee reported a motorist backed into the building and fled the scene Tuesday.

A Gibbs Road resident reported the theft of his disability check Tuesday.

Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call requesting an ambulance respond to North Ohio 61, Monroeville, for person with burns on his legs Tuesday.

The Norwalk Police Department requested a deputy tell an En Road resident someone turned in her temporary tag to the police station Tuesday.

Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call from Neal Zick Road, Willard, about someone being assaulted with a mop handle Tuesday. Travis A. Starr, 31, of Chatfield, was charged with disorderly conduct. Stephen J. Valentine, 25, of 2948 Neal Zick Road, Lot 32, Willard, also was charged, but the report didn't specify the citation.

A Butler Road, Wakeman, resident reported someone pulled into his driveway and took a picture of his home Tuesday.

Arrested an undisclosed suspect on a Willard Police Department warrant during an Ohio 103, Willard, traffic stop Tuesday and transported the suspect to the Huron County Jail.

A Daniels Road, Willard, resident reported the theft of his MP3 player from his vehicle Tuesday.

The Willard Police Department reported that Willard firefighters responded to an open burning complaint Tuesday on Townline Road 12, Willard.

Dennis J. Carpenter, 25, of 50 Milan Ave., was arrested on a contempt of court warrant Tuesday. He currently is in custody at the Huron County Jail awaiting extradition.
