HIGHWAY PATROL

Troopers are investigating an Aug. 21 incident at a West U.S. 20 business parking lot where the driver of an unknown vehicle hit the parked vehicle owned by the Ohio Department of Transportation and fled the scene.

James M. Zornes, 46, of Mansfield, was charged with driving under the influence and failure to control Aug. 26 after he went off the right side of Ohio 13 and hit a mailbox and ditch. He went across Omega Road and off the left side, where his pickup truck overturned in a field.

Barry Meade, 43, of Green Springs, was charged with failure to yield the right-of-way Aug. 26 in the collision with the vehicle driven by Michael L. Peters, 47, of 6080 Ohio 547, Bellevue, at the intersection of Ohio 4 and Ohio 547. North Central EMS transported Meade to The Bellevue Hospital with serious injuries. He was treated and released.

Troopers are investigating an Aug. 28 incident where the driver of an unknown white tractor-trailer hit the driver's side mirror of the semi driven by Gary L. Cool, 61, of Burbank, while attempting to pass Cool on Ohio 4.

Bill W. Roberson, 43, of 4 Country Side Drive, Greenwich, was charged with failure to maintain assured clear distance Wednesday after he hit the rear of the vehicle driven by Erica A. Rosian, 26, of Willoughby, on Ohio 61.

Bryce A. Roth, 24, of Sandusky, hit a deer Friday on Ohio 61.

Thomas F. Sutter, 77, of Avon, was charged with improper backing Friday after he backed up from the intersection of Ohio 162 and Section Line Road 30 to make room for a turning motor home into the stopped vehicle driven by Mary M. Gottfried, 56, of 60 Crestwood Drive, Willard.

NORWALK FIRE

Wetted down a North Edgewood Drive woodland fire Saturday that was out upon arrival at 10:22 a.m. A worker gave firefighters the name of the boy who later admitted to helping start the fire and gave firefighters the name of his accomplices. Firefighters turned the matter over to the Huron County Sheriff's Office. Returned to station at 11:11.

Responded to a hydrant dripping water at 6:33 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Woodlawn Avenue and Elm Street. Returned to station at 6:37.

Allowed a small campfire contained in a fire ring to continue burning at 9:44 p.m. Sunday at 24 Key Drive. Returned to station at 10:05.

Assisted North Central EMS with a patient at 8:28 a.m. Monday at 19 Newton St. Returned to station at 8:35.

Assisted North Central EMS with a patient at 8:39 a.m. Monday at 63 Eastwood Drive. Returned to station at 8:57.

Responded to an alarm activation at 10:04 a.m. Monday at 50 Newton St., where the sprinkler system started because of a water surge in the city water system. Returned to station at 10:21.

Responded to an accident with injuries at 6:54 p.m. Monday at the Lovers Lane Road bridge. Returned to station at 7:31.

NORWALK POLICE

Rocky A. Stidam, 37, of Shelby, was transferred from the Shelby Police Department on a local warrant Saturday and charged with failure to pay fines and costs within 60 days. He currently is in custody at the Huron County Jail.

Joseph W. Lukitsh, 23, of 611 Wessor Ave., Apt. 18, Willard, was arrested on a warrant Saturday and charged with forgery. He was released Sunday from the Huron County Jail based on a Norwalk Municipal Court order.

An area motorist reported someone punched or kicked the driver's side door of his grandmother's vehicle that was parked at a North Hester Street business Saturday.

Tracey L. Farias, 44, of Sandusky, was transferred from the Sandusky post of the state Highway Patrol on two contempt of court warrants Sunday. She currently is in custody at the Huron County Jail.

Dispatched a severely injured cat Sunday that was moaning Sunday in a Pitt Street yard.

A Cline Street resident reported someone stole her gas card Sunday in Norwalk and used it later at a New London gas station. The incident remains under investigation.

A Concord Court resident reported telephone harassment Sunday.

A Morley Drive resident reported the theft of two girl's mountain bikes from his back yard Monday.

Darnell M. Nelson, 40, of Lorain, was arrested on a local warrant Monday at the Mansfield Correctional Institution and charged with failure to pay fines and costs. He currently is in custody at the Huron County Jail.

A Sycamore Drive resident reported damage to the driver's side of his pickup truck Monday.

An area resident accused her ex-husband of not giving her children back after a weekend visitation Monday on East Elm Street. After police spoke to the man, he agreed to give the woman the children.

Responded to the report of a male suspect attempting to break into an East Washington Street apartment Monday. An officer found the man pushing back the blinds and curtains and peering into the apartment through a window with the slightly bent window screen at his feet. James E. Benedict, 51, whose address was unavailable, was charged with disorderly conduct and held in the city jail until sober.

An Ohio 103, Willard, resident reported two people refused to leave upon request Friday.

Dispatched a deputy and Firelands Ambulance to Cook Road, New London, in response to a pedestrian who complained of being in pain and reportedly was acting jittery Friday.

Contacted the coroner after dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call Friday about someone not breathing on Crescent Road, New London.

A Ninevah Road, Greenwich, resident reported being harassed Friday.

An Ohio 99, Willard, resident reported a domestic dispute Friday.

A Peru Olena Road resident reported finding a BB stuck in a window pane after she returned home from vacation Friday. She also reported her in-ground pool was down 4 feet and the sides were caving in.

Dispatchers were advised of an alarm activation Friday on West Townline Road 131, North Fairfield.

A Townline Road 151 resident was concerned about an elderly person standing beside the complainant's mailbox in their night clothes Friday.

A Chenango Road, New London, resident reported a suspicious motorist pulled into his driveway and took pictures of his home Friday, saying she used to live there.

Advised of a custody dispute and trespassing incident Saturday on Gibbs Road.

A Jennings Road, New London, resident reported someone stole gas out of several parked vehicles Saturday.

Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call about a domestic incident Saturday on North U.S. 250.

An area motorist reported cows were in the middle of Willard West Road, Willard, Saturday.

The Willard Police Department requested assistance with a fleeing suspect Saturday on Main Street, Willard.

A North U.S. 250 resident accused several juveniles of setting a wooded area on fire Saturday. A North Edgewood Drive resident later reported taking a gas can away from one of the suspects.

An East U.S. 20, Wakeman, resident reported an unruly juvenile Saturday.

A Rome Greenwich Road, New London, resident reported someone in a passing vehicle was harassing him Saturday.

A New London officer reported two juveniles on mopeds were riding in the area of Ohio 162 and Butler Road, New London, Saturday.

Advised of a possible fight Saturday on Neal Zick Road, Willard.

Dispatchers were advised of an alarm activation Saturday on Townline Road 131.

A Gibbs Road resident reported someone refused to leave upon request Sunday.

The state Highway Patrol requested a deputy contact the owner of a vehicle in ditch Hartland Center Road north of Ohio 18 on Sunday.

A Court Road, Wakeman, resident reported an unruly juvenile Sunday. She also reported finding an empty prescription bottle of Vicodin belonging to the mother of the father's girlfriend in the girl's book bag.

An area motorist reported a missing stop sign Sunday on Boehler Road, Monroeville.

Dispatchers were advised of an alarm activation at a South U.S. 250 church Sunday.

A Daniel Road, Willard, resident reported a juvenile was missing Sunday.

A Seel Road, Bellevue, resident reported a trespassing incident Sunday.

A West Ohio 162, Monroeville, resident reported a relative took one of the vehicles Sunday that belonged to the complainant's recently deceased husband.

An area construction worker reported the locks on his boss' tool trailer were cut Sunday at a Gibbs Road construction site.

Responded with the Willard Police Department to an Austin Drive, Willard, fight where a suspect beat on his door with a pipe Sunday.

An Ohio 601 resident reported someone took her belongings Sunday.

An Ohio 99, Monroeville, resident reported two incidents involving the same suspicious vehicle Sunday.

Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call about someone being threatened Monday on Ohio 61, Plymouth.

The relative of a Sand Road resident requested a deputy check on the person's well-being Monday.

Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call about a South U.S. 250, Greenwich, domestic dispute Monday.

Initiated a traffic stop Monday at the intersection of Ohio 99 and Townline Road, Willard. The driver, whose information was not released, was accused of driving with expired license plates and not having a valid license.

Kenneth R. Woods, 44, of Wellington, was arrested on a contempt of court warrant Monday. He is serving a 10-day sentence at the Huron County Jail.
