Tax abatement action for Pepperidge Farm placed on hold

If approved, expansion at Willard plant would create at least 50 new jobs.

A plan to approve a property tax abatement for Pepperidge Farms for possible expansion has been put on hold.

Two weeks ago, council passed a resolution approving the application. However, company officials "discovered that they had overstated the proposed job creation numbers," city manager Brian Humphress told council on Monday.
