Prisoner who attempted suicide improving, released on bond

Erie County won't be responsible for the medical bills of prisoner Timothy J. Thayer, who attempted suicide, because a judge ruled Thursday to release him on bond. Thayer, 47, of Huron, suffered critical injuries to his head and spine after falling 13 feet from a second floor walkway in his Erie County Jail cell block Tuesday.
