"No, he's not OK at all." That's what a young woman told a 9-1-1 dispatcher about attempted murder victim Austin D. Thornton sometime after he was attacked by two Bellevue men.

The 9-1-1 call about the assault at 131 Ohio 99, Willard, came in about 12:30 a.m. Monday. The victim's girlfriend called 9-1-1 on the way to Mercy Willard Hospital.

"My boyfriend just got hit with a tire iron. This kid jumped him," the girlfriend told a dispatcher early in the call. "He just got jumped. He hit him with a tire iron."

A LifeFlight helicopter later transported Thornton to Mercy St. Vincent, where he was admitted into the neuro-intensive care unit of Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in critical condition. Thornton, 19, is from St. Paris, which is located between Lima and Dayton.
