Area road closings, delays announced

Huron County motorists will be affected by some of these projects.

Here is the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 3 weekly construction report for the week of April 22:

ASHLAND COUNTY

State Route 60
SR 60, between Township Road 585 and County Road 2404, is closed for an embankment repair and culvert replacement project. The detour route for southbound motorists is SR 60 to State Route 179, south on SR 179 to State Route 95, west on SR 95 to SR 60, and reverse. The road is expected to reopen in early July, 2013.

 

State Route 96 - ***NEW***
SR 96, between the Richland County line and Cottage Street in the City of Ashland, will be reduced to one lane of traffic beginning Monday, April 22 as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete on August 27, 2013.

 

State Route 511

SR 511, between County Road 30A and Township Road 2375, is closed for the replacement of seven culverts. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 511 to State Route 39, west on SR 39 to State Route 603, north on SR 603 to US Route 30, east on US 30 to SR 511, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on May 3; however, all work is weather dependent.

 

US Route 250

US 250, between County Road 1575 and Township Road 653 in Montgomery Township, is reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction. Traffic will be maintained at all times in each direction with narrowed lane widths. Access to businesses will also be maintained; however, motorists should be prepared for delays throughout construction of this project. The project is expected to be complete in June 2013.

 

CRAWFORD COUNTY
State Route 103
SR 103, between North Auburn Road and State Route 39, is closed for a bridge replacement project. This work is part of a $1 million project to replace two bridges along SR-103 in Auburn Township. The other bridge is located 0.4 mile west of the Huron County line and is restricted to one lane of two-way traffic maintained with a temporary signalized lane closure. The detour route for westbound motorists is SR-103 to SR-39, south on SR-39 to State Route 98, southwest on SR-98 to State Route 602, north on SR-602 to SR-103, and reverse for eastbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen in late June 2013; however, the project is expected to be complete at the end of September 2013.

 

State Route 598 - ***NEW***
SR 598, between Brandt Road and County Road 330, will be reduced to one lane of traffic beginning Monday, April 22 as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete by the end of July 2013.

 

HURON COUNTY
US Route 20
US 20, at its bridge over the Huron River in the village of Monroeville, is reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction for bridge repairs as part of an upcoming resurfacing project. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction through mid-May, 2013.

 

US Route 224

US 224, between State Route 99 and State Route 598 just east of the city of Willard, is closed for an unplanned drainage repair. The detour route for westbound motorists is US 224 to SR 598, north on SR 598 to  State Route 103, west on SR 103 to SR 99, south on SR 99 to US 224, and reverse for eastbound motorists. The road will remain closed until further notice.

 

State Route 61 & Snyder Road

SR 61, at its bridge with Snyder Road in Peru Township, is reduced to one lane of two-way traffic maintained with a temporary traffic signal for repair work. Snyder Road is also closed at its intersection with SR 61. Detour is posted. The work is expected to be complete in late-July 2013.

 

LORAIN COUNTY

State Route 58

SR 58, between West Lorain Street (State Route 511) and Walnut Street in the City of Oberlin, is closed for a sanitary sewer replacement project for approximately one month. Upon completion of that work, SR 58 will then close at its intersection with Morgan Street for another month. Local traffic can follow posted detour; however, the detour route for trucks is SR 58 to US Route 20, west on US 20 to Baumhart Road, north on Baumhart Road to State Route 113, east on SR 113 to SR 58, and reverse for southbound trucks. A local detour route for cars has also been set up by the City of Oberlin. The work is expected to be complete in mid-June 2013.
 

Interstate 90
I-90, over the Black River and Ford Road, is reduced to two narrowed 11’ lane widths of traffic in each direction for bridge deck replacements. The restrictions will remain in place through November 2013. 

MEDINA COUNTY

State Route 3
SR 3, at its intersection with Reagan Parkway, has intermittent single lane closures for work as part of an intersection improvement project in the City of Medina. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in August 2013.

 

Interstate 71
I-71, at various locations near its interchanges with State Route 18 and State Route 303, has intermittent single lane closures or shoulder closures as part of a noise wall replacement project. Two to three lanes of traffic will be maintained at all times. The project is expected to be complete in August 2013.

 

Interstate 76
I-76, between State Route 57 and the Summit County line, is reduced to one lane of traffic for a rehabilitation project. Motorists are advised to use caution in this area and watch for slower moving traffic as it merges in to the open lane. The project will be complete in September 2013.

 

State Route 261 - ***UPDATE***
The SR 261 to Interstate 76 eastbound entrance ramp in the City of Wadsworth remains closed for rehabilitation work. The detour route for motorists is to continue northeast on SR 261 to State Route 21, south on SR-21 to I-76 east. The ramp is expected to reopen on Saturday, April 20.

 

RICHLAND COUNTY
US Route 30
US 30, between the West Fourth Street interchange and State Route 39 interchange, is reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction for a bridge painting project. The overhead bridge structures at West Fourth Street, Lexington-Springmill Road and Trimble Road will be painted.  One 11-foot lane will be maintained at all times. The project is scheduled to be complete in August 2013.

Interstate 71 (Morrow County)
I-71, from just south of the Morrow/Richland County line to State Route 95 (between mile markers 158 and 150), is reduced to two narrowed lanes of traffic as part of a reconstruction and widening project. Two 11’foot lanes are being maintained in each direction and I-71 northbound is using a crossover traffic pattern through the remainder of the project. The project is expected to be complete in October 2013. 

State Route 96 - ***NEW***
SR 96 will close next week between State Route  61 and State Route 13 for two culvert replacements. Beginning Monday, April 22, SR 96 will close just west of County Road 215 (Bowman Street). That section is expected to reopen Wednesday, at which time, the second section of SR 96 will close one-half-mile east of Ganges Five Points Road. The detour route for eastbound motorists is SR 96 to SR 61, north on SR 61 to State Route 603, southeast on SR 603 to SR 13, south on SR 13 to SR 96, and reverse for westbound motorists. Work is expected to be complete and the road open on Friday, April 26; however, all work is weather dependent.

 

State Route 96 - ***NEW***

SR 96, between State Route 13 and the City of Shelby, will be reduced to one lane of traffic beginning Monday, April 22 as part of a resurfacing project. One lane of two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete on August 20, 2013.

 

Trimble Road, Mansfield
Trimble Road, near its interchange with US Route 30 in the City of Mansfield, has intermittent daytime single lane closures as part of a traffic signal replacement project from National Parkway to Longview Avenue. The project is expected to be complete in October 2013.

 

WAYNE COUNTY

State Route 3/Columbus Avenue
Columbus Avenue northbound, at its bridge over US Route 30 in the City of Wooster, is closed. Both northbound lanes are closed over the bridge as part of a repair project; however, the southbound lanes will remain open. The lanes are expected to reopen at the end of May 2013.
