Four candidates appear to be in the running for the four Norwalk City Council at-large positions in the Nov. 6 election.

Democrat Shane Penrose and Independents Stephen Euton and Bruce Wilde have filed petitions with the Huron County Board of Elections.

Council-at-large member Dwight Tkach, in June, had expressed interest in running as a write-in candidate. He had obtained about 70 signatures when he turned in the paperwork June 7, the day of the deadline, but failed to sign the circulator statement on the back of his nominating petition. Tkach is out of town and was unavailable for comment.

In the Norwalk school board race, current board members John Lendrum and Michael Grose have filed petitions as well as Zenobia Road resident Steve Linder. Lendrum, a partner with Norwalk Concrete Industries and Grose, a retired junior high physical education teacher, have been past presidents.

Linder is a first-time candidate.

On Monday, the board of elections will meet to certify the non-partisan races and local options.

I believe Mr. Euton is running as a Republican, not an independent.
