A local woman is fighting for her life after being injured in a traffic accident Thursday afternoon on U.S. 250.

Winds caused a tree to fall across the highway about 3:30 p.m., leading to the accident.

A van driven by Karrol Hurley, 45, of Greenwich, slammed into the tree, according to troopers with the state Highway Patrol.

Hurley suffered serious injuries and was flown by helicopter to Cleveland MetroHealth Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition.

Two passengers, Kenneth Hurley, 50, and Karen Pelham, 50, both of Greenwich, also were injured and taken by ambulance to Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

U.S. 250 between Dublin and North Greenwich Milan Town Line roads was closed for a couple of hours following the accident.
