Area road closings, delays announced

Road work projects in Ashland, Crawford, Lorain and Richland counties are among those announced by ODOT.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has released the following construction report for the week of April 1:

ASHLAND COUNTY

State Route 511

SR 511, between County Road 30A and Township Road 2375, will close Monday, April 1 for the replacement of seven culverts. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 511 to State Route 39, west on SR 39 to State Route 603, north on SR 603 to US Route 30, east on US 30 to SR 511, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on May 3; however, all work is weather dependent.

State Route 545
SR 545, between the Richland County line and Township Road 956 in Clear Creek Township, will close Monday, April 1 for the replacement of four culverts. The detour route for northbound motorists is SR 545 to State Route 96, east on SR 96 to State Route 60, north on SR 60 to US Route 250, west on US 250 to SR 545, and reverse for southbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen on April 17; however, all work is weather dependent.

US Route 250

US 250, between County Road 1575 and Township Road 653 in Montgomery Township, is reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction. Traffic will be maintained at all times in each direction with narrowed lane widths. Access to businesses will also be maintained; however, motorists should be prepared for delays throughout construction of this project. The project is expected to be complete in June 2013.

 

CRAWFORD COUNTY
State Route 103
SR 103, between North Auburn Road and State Route 39, is closed for a bridge replacement project. This work is part of a $1 million project to replace two bridges along SR-103 in Auburn Township. The other bridge is located 0.4 mile west of the Huron County line and is restricted to one lane of two-way traffic maintained with a temporary signalized lane closure. The detour route for westbound motorists is SR-103 to SR-39, south on SR-39 to State Route 98, southwest on SR-98 to State Route 602, north on SR-602 to SR-103, and reverse for eastbound motorists. The road is expected to reopen in late June 2013; however, the project is expected to be complete at the end of September 2013.

 

LORAIN COUNTY

Interstate 90
I-90, over the Black River and Ford Road, is reduced to two narrowed 11’ lane widths of traffic in each direction for bridge deck replacements. The restrictions will remain in place through November 2013. 

 

MEDINA COUNTY

State Route 3
SR 3, at its intersection with Reagan Parkway, has intermittent single lane closures for work as part of an intersection improvement project in the City of Medina. One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction at all times with flaggers. The project is expected to be complete in August 2013.

Interstate 71
I-71, at various locations near its interchanges with State Route 18 and State Route 303, has intermittent single lane closures or shoulder closures as part of a noise wall replacement project. Two to three lanes of traffic will be maintained at all times. The project is expected to be complete in August 2013.

State Route 261
The SR 261 to Interstate 76 eastbound entrance ramp in the City of Wadsworth will close Monday, April 1 for rehabilitation work. The detour route for motorists is to continue northeast on SR 261 to State Route 21, south on SR-21 to I-76 east. The ramp is expected to reopen on April 15; however, all work is dependent on weather.

 

RICHLAND COUNTY
Interstate 71 (Morrow County)
I-71 southbound, from just south of the Morrow/Richland County line to State Route 95 (between mile markers 158 and 150), will have lane restrictions on Monday, April 1 as work resumes on the  reconstruction and widening project. Throughout the daytime hours, I-71 south will be reduced to two lanes of traffic; however, at 8:00 p.m. I-71 southbound will be reduced to one lane of traffic.  On Tuesday, April 2, I-71 southbound will return to two 11’ lanes of traffic and remain in that pattern until the project is complete in October 2013.

 

WAYNE COUNTY

State Route 3/Columbus Avenue
Columbus Avenue northbound, at its bridge over US Route 30 in the City of Wooster, which was originally scheduled to close Monday, March 18, has been delayed due to weather. Both northbound lanes will be closed over the bridge as part of a repair project; however, the southbound lanes will remain open. At this time, no date is available as to when the lanes will close. The project carries a completion date of late September, 2013.
