Huron County Sheriff Dane Howard is counting on the help of all first-graders in Huron County.

A new police dog should arrive within two weeks at the county jail, where it will be used.

Howard is asking each first-grade classroom to help name the dog by submitting suggestions to the sheriff's office, 255 Shady Lane Drive, Norwalk.

The new dog is a boy and the names should have a law-enforcement theme. The deadline is 3 p.m. April 23.

Stories about the new dog and naming contest were published in Monday's Norwalk Reflector. To read the stories, pick up a copy of that issue or subscribe to the e-paper (a complete digital replica of each issue) for less than $1 per week and read them now.
