Norwalk veterinary center accredited

The Norwalk Veterinary Medical Center has achieved full accreditation by the American Animal Hospital Association.

The medical center went through a complete evaluation process, including on-site visitation by an American Animal Hospital Association Consultant.

This was the third accreditation review of the Norwalk Veterinary Medical Center. The medical center has been accredited since 2001.

The facility exceeded requirements for accreditation in every area, including surgical and radiology procedures, anesthesiology and dentistry. The evaluation includes a quality assessment review of the hospital's facility, medical equipment, practice methods and pet health care management.

"Achieving a high level of accreditation is a team effort and I am very proud of all of our staff members," said Dr. Ronald Hendrickson, hospital director. Less than 15 percent of veterinary facilities in the United States are accredited, Hendrickson added.

In order to maintain accreditation, the medical center is evaluated regularly by the association's consultants. The Norwalk Veterinary Medical Center is the only accredited practice in Huron County, according to Hendrickson.
