HIGHWAY PATROL No citation was issued Aug. 7 in the incident on Ohio 99 involving the vehicles driven by Sherri L. Coburn, 44, of Shelby, and Theresa L. Burkhalter, 29, of 609 Lisa Lane, Willard. Coburn was attempting to pass another vehicle while heading south in a no passing zone. Burkhalter had to swerve off the east side of the road to avoid a collision, but hit a ditch.

HIGHWAY PATROL

MONROEVILLE PD

Victor A. Quillen, 35, of 41 Monroe St., Monroeville, was charged with a felony count of driving under the influence Aug. 3 in connection with an earlier incident which was reviewed by the law director. He was transported to Norwalk Municipal Court for a hearing.

Kevin T. Weisenberger, whose age and address were unavailable, was charged with driving under the influence and speeding in connection with a traffic stop Friday at the intersection of River Road and Hamilton Street. His passenger, Anthony R. Dreschel, 23, of 407 1/2 E. Main St., Bellevue, was charged with open container and seat belt violations. They were released to a sober person.

A South Main Street resident reported receiving unwanted text messages Saturday from her soon-to-be ex-husband.

Joshua L. Shaver, 29, of Phoenix, Ariz., was charged with driving under the influence, failure to signal and an open container violation in connection with a Prospect Street traffic stop Saturday. He was released to a sober person.

Joshua D. Doney, 22, of 1964 Hettle Road, Monroeville, was charged with persistent disorderly conduct and resisting arrest in connection with an incident Sunday at the beer tent at the St. Joseph Festival. He was held in the Huron County Jail until sober.

NORWALK FIRE

Assisted North Central EMS with a patient at 10:33 a.m. Monday at 103 Jefferson St. Returned to station at 11:05.

Assisted North Central EMS with a patient at 2:04 p.m. Monday at 41 E. Washington St. Returned to station at 2:22.

Responded to an overheated zip cord/pump plug combination at 7:37 p.m. Monday at 3448 Laylin Road. The resulting spark alerted the owner's grandsons who were there. Firefighters suggested the owner include a higher amperage power strip when he replaced the damaged cords to the fish tank and tank water heater. Returned to station at 8.

NORWALK POLICE

A State Street resident reported a prescription bottle with six Vicodin pills, a case with 14 compact discs and $30 in cash was missing from his pickup truck Monday after someone opened the rear window.

An area motorist reported there was a scratch on the front door and front quarter panel of his minivan that was parked at a Whittlesey Avenue business Monday.

An East Key Drive resident reported a stolen bicycle Monday.

Sarah R. Weiss, 25, of Port Clinton, was arrested and charged with theft, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of criminal tools Monday after a Milan Avenue business employee accused her of removing the packaging from several compact discs while in the restroom. Weiss currently is in custody at the Huron County Jail.

Dispatched a sick squirrel with the animal control rifle Monday on West Main Street.

A Pitt Street resident reported receiving a bill Monday for a credit card someone obtained in her name. The incident remains under investigation.

Burl F. Staley, 32, of 1746 Scranton Road, was arrested on two contempt of court warrants Monday on the original charge of assault. He currently is in custody at the Huron County Jail.

Richard G. Adkins, 32, of 28 Chatham St., was arrested on an undisclosed warrant Monday. He also was charged with smoking in a area designated no smoking in connection with lighting a cigarette he kept behind his ear while handcuffed in the police station holding room. He was released later from the Huron County Jail after posting bond.

Timothy M. Adkins, 24, whose address was unavailable, was charged with disorderly conduct in connection with an East Main Street business assault today.

Sabrina M. Schweizier, 19, whose address was unavailable, was charged with underage possession/consumption and an open container violation in connection with an incident in a car at a Benedict Avenue business today.

Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call today from North Hester Street about the theft of a Chevrolet Astro van and a 1992 four-door Honda Civic. Police earlier responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint today on Anna Drive, where the van's engine was still warm and the dashboard had been ripped out.

SHERIFF'S OFFICE

An Ohio 103, Willard, business employee reported some piles of scrap wire and electrical boxes were missing Monday.

Dispatchers received several 9-1-1 calls about an accident with injuries Monday at the intersection of Ohio 18 and Greenwich Milan Townline Road. The Milan Police Department assisted with traffic control and the Greenwich Police Department assisted with notifying relatives of the death of Earl R. Hartley, 76, of Greenwich.

An Ohio 60, New London, resident reported someone forcibly entered his house and stole several tools Monday.

Checked a North Greenwich Milan Townline Road address Monday after dispatchers received a 9-1-1 hang-up call and nobody answered during a call back. No one was home.

Dispatchers received several 9-1-1 calls Monday about a Graham Road, Monroeville, barn fire that started when the property owner lost control of a fire while burning some undisclosed items. The Huron River Joint Fire District responded.

A West U.S. 224, New Haven, business employee reported Monday having pictures and the license plate of a suspect who drove away without paying for about $143 worth of gasoline June 24 and July 19.

A Townline Road 187, New London, resident reported the theft of a dirt bike Monday.

A U.S. 20 business customer reported being threatened Monday.

An area resident reported being bitten by a dog Monday on Ohio 4, Bellevue. Deputies forwarded a report to the Huron County Dog Warden's office.

Residents on Ogan Road, Wakeman, and Gibbs Road, Norwalk, reported domestic disputes Monday.

Dispatched a deputy to check on the well-being of a South New State Road, Willard, resident who called earlier and sounded confused and upset Monday.

A South Railroad Street, Collins, resident reported a trespassing incident Monday.

A Pleasant Street, Willard, resident reported the theft of shingles Monday.

A North Main Street, North Fairfield, resident reported the theft of $40 from her purse Monday.

A South Main Street, North Fairfield, resident reported undisclosed vandalism Monday.

An area resident reported losing her silver cigarette case that included various personal information Monday on Lake Holiday Lane, Willard.
