BREAKING NEWS - Man dies in morning accident

A Greenwich man died in a two-vehicle accident this morning at the corner of Ohio 18 and Greenwich Milan Townline Road (Ohio 601). The driver of the first vehicle, Earl R. Hartley, 76, of Greenwich, was killed and pronounced dead at the scene. He was transported by North Central EMS to Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

A Greenwich man died in a two-vehicle accident this morning at the corner of Ohio 18 and Greenwich Milan Townline Road (Ohio 601).

The driver of the first vehicle, Earl R. Hartley, 76, of Greenwich, was killed and pronounced dead at the scene. He was transported by North Central EMS to Fisher-Titus Medical Center.

His front-seat passenger and wife, Mary E. Hartley, 75, also of Greenwich, was flown by Lifeflight to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Toledo. She sustained serious injuries.

Both were wearing seatbelts.

The second driver, Mark A. Stockmaster, 35, of Norwalk, was not injured. He was transported to FTMC for precautionary reasons. He also was wearing his seatbelt.

Hartley was northbound on Greenwich Milan Townline Road and stopped at the intersection of Ohio 18. Stockmaster was eastbound on Ohio 18. Hartley pulled into the intersection, failing to yield to Stockmaster’s vehicle, according to reports from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

That is a bad intersection, My sister and nephew, were just in a wreck there also, "someone pulling outinto their path". They are still in physical therapy. Alot of people on 601, think it's a 4 way stop. A light there would be a good idea.

I have seen soooo many accidents there at that intersection. How many is it going to take before they put a light there, even if it is just a flashing light. Something needs to be done!!!!

I agree That's a problem spot. ODOT should do a traffic study there do to the traffic at the Raceway Park/ R&L.. I doubt this accident was do to the traffic from the Raceway but I'm guessing there's lots when the raceway is going strong. Someone needs to contact ODOT District 3.

The Hartleys are our neighbor and you couldn't find nicer people. I am sorry for the loss.

I work at the golf course that Earl was a member at. He has been a member there from the very beginning. And I can say from all of us that work there that he will be greatly missed.
