Burglar pleads guilty

Suspect who 'was using some drugs and doing some foolish things' has been released on bond.

A Norwalk man was released on bond after pleading guilty to a pair felonies for two different crimes.

Mark A. Noller Jr., 37, is subject to random drug screens until he is sentenced May 2 in Huron County Common Pleas Court. He pleaded guilty Thursday to burglary, which was amended to a third-degree felony, and breaking and entering.

As part of a plea deal, the state agreed to dismiss one theft charge. Huron County Prosecutor Russell Leffler recommended a two-year prison term and having Noller released early into a community-based corrections facility, a form of prison which focuses on substance abuse treatment and education.

"The state would note that would require him to be in prison for six months, maybe seven months," said Leffler, who spoke about the two crimes Thursday.

On Dec. 2, Noller "was using some drugs and doing some foolish things" with several people when he went to an Erie Street home and assisted in taking a 47-inch flat-screen television set, Leffler said.

"Basically, he was cooperative with the Norwalk police when they interviewed him," the prosecutor added.

Police arrested Noller on Jan. 17 -- six days after a Huron County grand jury issued a secret indictment. Authorities have said Noller and Cory B. Smith, 24, of 40B Corwin St., stole some TVs, an iPad, watches and some jewelry when they "hit a couple places in Norwalk."

Smith, in mid-February, pleaded guilty to burglary and theft of a firearm. He will be sentenced April 3.

Noller's breaking-and-entering conviction is for a Dec. 23 incident when he entered an unattached garage.

"The homeowner heard him and confronted him," Leffler said.

When the victim pulled a gun on Noller, the defendant ran away and dropped his cell phone, Leffler said. Police used Noller's cell phone to track him down.

After Thursday's hearing, Judge Jim Conway released Noller on a personal recognizance bond -- part of joint recommendation between the state and defense attorney Nancy Jennings.

Its bull he got let lose ! But its about damn time he got knocked for something! But like ya said when your a snitch you get off on it all. Like breaking into my house and stealing my childrens Christmas gifts... And all my family photos... Then you have the audacity to tell the police your my brother and give them my address as your own... Which turned into my being harassed by the police who were looking for you... I hate you. My babies are still afraid of monsters breaking into our home to hurt them. I hope you rot in prison and I hope your girlfriend gets caught screwing another guy in a car in bob Evans parking lot! Now go be a scum bag and shoot some more drugs junkie noller!

So tired of seeing the same faces in the paper all the time. When will Conway just get rid of them already? Really just wish there would be a rash of dirty heroin in this town to knock off all the users. I think it would be the best thing that happened to Norwalk and the crime rates! If you think otherwise, you obviously haven't been a victim of their cravings!
