A Norwalk man is facing a number of charges after an incident Saturday at a Key Drive location.

Seth E. Thornton, 20, of 39 E. Key Drive, was charged with burglary, theft and safecracking after allegedly stealing a large sum of money from a nearby Whittlesey Avenue residence. The incident was reported at 11:35 a.m.

Thornton is accused of trespassing on the property of a male relative and stealing the cash from the victim’s safe, Norwalk Assistant Law Director Scott Christophel said.

“The family suspected it was him and when he was interviewed by police, he admitted to the offenses,” Christophel said.

The Norwalk Police Department has recovered most of the $1,000 taken from the residence.

The prosecutor declined to comment on a possible motive.

Thornton was transported to the Huron County Jail.
