An area woman sustained serious injuries and was cited after a recent three-vehicle collision.
Charlotte A. Cunningham, 70, of Vermilion, was charged with failure to maintain assured clear distance in the accident that happened just before 4 p.m. Saturday.
Cunningham and Ashley L. Kinney, 28, of 641 Seminary Road, were northeast on Ohio 61 in Norwalk Township. Rebecca N. Scheel, 41, of 23 N. West St., was southwest.
Kinney was stopped waiting for Scheel to pass her when Cunningham hit the rear of Kinney's 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, said troopers with the state Highway Patrol. Kinney went off the right side of Ohio 61. Scheel went off the same side, where she hit a mailbox and business sign.
Troopers said debris from the collision involving the other trucks hit Scheel's 2012 Ford Escape. The truck had minor damage to the left side, but wasn't towed from the scene.
North Central EMS transported Cunningham to Fisher-Titus Medical Center with serious injuries. Kinney's husband took her to the hospital with minor injuries, troopers said. No additional information was available about the women's conditions.
Fitzgerald Body Shop towed the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Cunningham from the scene with disabling damage to the center front. Whites Automotive Services towed away the Tahoe driven by Kinney with disabling damage to the rear center.
