An area motorist could face as much as five years in prison if she is convicted of driving under the influence (DUI).

A Huron County grand jury indicted Rebecca L. Finegan in February in connection with a Jan. 1 incident.

Finegan, 42, of Elyria, pleaded innocent to the felony charge Monday in Huron County Common Pleas Court. She has a June 6 trial scheduled.

The defendant's indictment states Finegan had been convicted of another DUI within 20 years of the 2013 offense.

If convicted of the new charge, she faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 120 days behind bars and a mandatory minimum fine of $1,350.

"I could give you as much as five years," Judge Jim Conway told her, referring to a prison term.

Finegan earlier posted a $10,000 bond.

I find this hard to believe......I have never really heard of a DUI getting jail time. I mean you read more stories about 6-7-8-9-DUI's still driving....now they think we will believe she is going to get prison time for 2?

"I could give you as much as five years," Judge Jim Conway told her, referring to a prison term.

What they didn't print was what was most likely said afterwards, "But if you say you're REALLY sorry, I'll just give you a slap on the wrist and a stern warning."
