NORWALK FIRE Responded to a false fire alarm activation at 8:03 a.m. Monday at the Huron County Courthouse. The alarm sounded because of contractors installing the new heating and air conditioning system. Returned to station at 8:15.

NORWALK FIRE

Responded to a false fire alarm activation at 8:03 a.m. Monday at the Huron County Courthouse. The alarm sounded because of contractors installing the new heating and air conditioning system. Returned to station at 8:15.

Determined an odor was coming from some damp insulation in the fireplace during an odor investigation at 1:05 p.m. Monday at 1041 S. Norwalk Road. Returned to station at 1:21.

Responded to an arcing electrical line at 2:19 p.m. Monday leading to 8 St. Clair St. The line burned out before firefighters arrived. Firefighters contacted Ohio Edison to repair the line and turned off the power to the house because of low voltage. Returned to station at 2:29.

NORWALK POLICE

A Gallup Avenue resident reported her 17-year-old daughter had run away Monday and possibly was heading to friends' houses in Willard and Sandusky. She was last seen wearing tan shorts, a white tank top and white flip-flops. The incident remains under investigation.

Albert Shumate, 32, whose address was unavailable, was arrested on a local warrant Monday at the Erie County Jail and charged with one count of passing bad checks.

Responded to a Woodlawn Avenue home where someone threw a landscaping brick into an above ground swimming pool Monday. The incident remains under investigation.

Dispatched a raccoon "in obvious distress and showing symptoms of having distemper" with the animal control rifle Monday on Whitefield Boulevard.

The manager of a Cleveland Road business turned over several checks written by the same person on a closed account Monday. The incident remains under investigation.

Responded to a one-vehicle crash Monday on Old State Road near East Main Street. The driver said she ran off the right side of the road, hitting her passenger side mirror on a utility pole after reaching into the back seat to give her child a pacifier. There were no injuries and no citations listed.

Denise L. Robinson, 36, of 3065 Collins Road, Collins, was charged with making an improper left turn Monday in the collision with the vehicle driven by Michele M. Deweese, 37, of 27 Ward Ave., at the intersection of Cline Street and the road leading from Milan Avenue to Cline.

The adult son of a Grove Avenue resident returned home today after taking a large dose of allergy medication and leaving on foot. He later was taken to Fisher-Titus Medical Center for treatment.

An Anna Drive resident reported the theft of a stereo and various compact discs from his vehicle today. A neighbor had been awakened and saw two "younger adults making entries into nearby vehicles."

Charged two 17-year-old boys with a curfew violation today and released them to their parents.
