Akron Children’s Hospital is expanding its pediatric oncology services by recruiting a physician who specializes in treating young patients with brain tumors.
Dr. Sarah Zieber Rush, a pediatric neuro-oncologist, recently joined Children’s to lead the Brain Tumor Clinic that launched this month for children, teens and young adults. Prior to her arrival, the pediatric hospital had oncologists on staff to treat patients with brain tumors but didn’t have a cancer specialist focused solely on the condition.
Zieber Rush is a 1993 graduate of Norwalk High School and the daughter of Phyllis and Lamar Zieber of Norwalk.
“Of course we’re proud of her,” Phyllis Zieber said. “That goes without saying. We’ve seen her work very, very hard.”
