Food & Wine Celebration Saturday at Veggie U.

MILAN - Chef Ann Blackwood is one of more than 30 world renowned chefs offering tastings of one of her special culinary creations at a food and wine fundraiser for children in Northern Ohio. Blackwood, who is the owner of Casually Elegant, in Norwalk, has agreed to support Veggie U, a national non-profit children's health program on Saturday at the 2007 Food & Wine Celebration in Milan.

MILAN - Chef Ann Blackwood is one of more than 30 world renowned chefs offering tastings of one of her special culinary creations at a food and wine fundraiser for children in Northern Ohio.

Blackwood, who is the owner of Casually Elegant, in Norwalk, has agreed to support Veggie U, a national non-profit children's health program on Saturday at the 2007 Food & Wine Celebration in Milan.

This is the fifth year for this fund-raising event held at Veggie U's home base, The Culinary Vegetable Institute. Guests will enjoy an array of culinary delights created by Blackwood and more than 30 other nationally renowned chefs.

During the event that draws more than 600 guests annually, attendees will also have the opportunity to enjoy wine tastings from top vineyards all over the country; participate in food and wine demonstrations and book signing by chef/authors; and bid on fabulous items in both silent and live auctions.

All proceeds from the event go to Veggie U, a not-for-profit organization that allows schools to reach children with the message of healthful living through a hands-on classroom kit and accompanying five-week curriculum.

Paula Deen, Food Network celebrity chef, cookbook author and "Queen of Southern Cuisine;"

Chef Walter Scheib, III, White House Chef for 11 years and author of the book "The American Chef;"
