The Huron County Sheriff's Office arrested two boys after deputies tracked their footprints and some blood droppings to one of the suspects' nearby home Sunday.

Dispatchers received the report of an alarm activation at 12:06 a.m. at Fitchville Mart, 1596 U.S. 250, New London. Maj. Greg Englund said the responding deputies found a broken window on the west side of the convenience store.

"They found a large amount of blood. It was on the inside and outside," Englund said.

The deputies tracked footprints and blood droppings to one of the suspects' home about two or three blocks from the crime scene. Englund said one of the boys lived there and the 16-year-old boy had a cut on his hand, which deputies assume was from the broken window.

"He made some admissions to a detective," Englund said.

The older boy was charged with burglary while the other suspect, 15, was charged with obstruction of justice. Englund said the boys are accused of stealing a couple of bottles of alcohol from the business.

After the older boy was transported to Fisher-Titus Medical Center, both defendants were taken to the Seneca County Youth Center.

The last time I looked, Fitchville was in Huron county. Why were the boys taken to Seneca county?
