A Monroeville woman died after a three-vehicle collision Sunday morning on Interstate 215 in Utah.

Barbara Landon, 74, died later from undisclosed injuries at the University of Utah Hospital, according to The Salt Lake Tribune.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Ted Tingey told the paper a medical helicopter flew Landon to the facility after the motorcycle she was riding landed on top of her. She and her husband, George, were heading south on their Honda Gold Wing motorcycle. Tingey said the couple was beside two cars when the leading vehicle was rear-ended as it began to slow down on the freeway.

An ambulance took George Landon to the hospital with minor injuries. Nobody else was injured.

Tingey said both the Landons were wearing their helmets, noting the headgear likely prevented more serious injuries for George Landon.

The collision closed Interstate 215 for 30 minutes as police investigated the crash.
