New London council gives the OK to work inside village

NEW LONDON Village council approved Administrator Shawn Tappel's request Monday to hire Mark Haynes Construction from Norwalk to clean out about 300 feet of Skellinger Creek between Washburn and Grant streets for $6,174. Members OK'ed the expenditure of around $50,000 for street paving. This will include North Railroad and Ledgett streets and the reservoir, and probably Short Sherman Street, the village hall parking lot and parts of Walnut, Kelly and Birch Park, Tappel said.
