Monroeville voters will see tax levy

MONROEVILLE Village council voted Tuesday to place on the November ballot a measure to increase the village's income tax from 1 to 1.5 percent. Council member Don Wangler voted against the ordinance, indicating he's heard from citizens who do not want the income tax increase.

MONROEVILLE Village council voted Tuesday to place on the November ballot a measure to increase the village's income tax from 1 to 1.5 percent.

Council member Don Wangler voted against the ordinance, indicating he's heard from citizens who do not want the income tax increase.

Village Clerk/Treasurer Bonnie Beck said Monroeville's income tax went into effect in 1986 and has never been raised. It is one of the lowest income taxes in the area, Beck said.
