NORWALK FIRE

Assisted Norwalk Furniture employees with absorbing about 20 gallons of wood stain leaking from a 55-gallon drum at 11:18 a.m. Tuesday at 100 Furniture Parkway. They used oil dry and sawdust to absorb the spill. Returned to station at 12:08 p.m.

Responded to a sparking transformer with a blow fuse at 12:04 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Parsons Street and Scottwood Avenue. Ohio Edison officials were aware of the problem and had been there at least an hour before firefighters arrived. Returned to station at 12:30.

SHERIFF'S OFFICE

Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call about a suspected prowler knocking on windows Tuesday on East U.S. 20.

An Ohio 60, Wakeman, resident reported a suspicious person came to his door asking to use his telephone Tuesday.

A North U.S. 250 resident reported a custody dispute Tuesday. One of the complainants earlier had a supervised visit with the children.

The Richland County Sheriff's Office transferred a 9-1-1 call to Huron County about the attempted theft of steel pieces Tuesday on Plymouth East Road, Plymouth. The victim caught two male suspects as they attempted to load them into a Chevrolet S-1- pickup truck and fled heading east.

A Columbus resident reported being threatened Tuesday.

An Arcade Road resident reported telephone harassment Tuesday.

A Peru Olena Road resident reported suspected tampering with his truck Tuesday.

Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call about a Mills Road, Plymouth, domestic dispute Tuesday.

An Edwards Road, Greenwich, resident reported the top part of her mailbox was missing Tuesday.

A Townline Road 12, Willard, resident reported a suspicious vehicle and pedestrian Tuesday.

Transported a woman from Huron County Probate Court to Fisher-Titus Medical Center on Tuesday.

An East U.S. 20, Wakeman, resident reported the theft of his blue 1976 Monte Carlos on Tuesday. The complainant later said his neighbor moved it without telling him.

An Ohio 61, Plymouth, resident reported suspicious people in a green Ford Astro van and three or four other vehicles were suspected of being ready to fight Tuesday.

NORWALK POLICE

A Reed Street resident reported the theft of her HP Photo Smart digital camera July 4.

A Corwin Street resident reported the theft of a $1,200 payroll check and X-box controller Friday.

Hope A. Boudreau, 32, of 52C Main St., Greenwich, was charged with improper backing Tuesday in the collision with the parked vehicle owned by Christopher J. Andrews, whose age was unavailable, of 22 Walnut St., in front of Andrews' house.

Arrested a juvenile Tuesday who was locked out of his East Main Street house and accused of attempting to stab family members with a knife. The boy was transported to the Sandusky County Juvenile Detention Center.

A North Hester Street resident reported the theft of his Honda Pro-Digy bicycle Tuesday.

Roger Brumfield, 47, whose address wasn't available, was arrested on a warrant Tuesday and charged with failure to appear for a 1997 trial. He was released after posting bond.

Raymond D. Caudill, 29, of Sandusky, was arrested on a warrant Tuesday and charged with breaking and entering. He currently is in custody at the Huron County Jail.
