The Elyria post of the state Highway Patrol is investigating a collision that occurred at 4:05 p.m. Sunday within the intersection of Oberlin Road and the Norfolk and Southern Railroad crossing in Amherst Township.
Miriam A Matesic, 78, of Lorain, was traversing over the Norfolk and Southern railroad tracks at Oberlin Road in a 2011 Ford Focus when her vehicle was struck by the train, troopers said.
Matesic was relayed to Mercy Regional Medical Center and later flown by a LifeFlight helicopter to Cleveland Metro Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, troopers said.
Alcohol an /or drug use is not suspected, troopers said. Seatbelt use is unknown at this time.
The investigation is ongoing.
